Hopefully this will be the last series. Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of it but I think we are now getting to the stage where you look at the kids and they're getting a bit too old for the show. Surely they should be taking their exams and looking at going to college or university now?

I'm pretty sure the BBC have commissioned another two series.

True, but then watching reruns of Buffy shows that Cordelia at least was well into her 20s by the time Sunnydale High got zapped...or did she just keep repeating years?

Power Rangers ended up retconning the original cast (who were late teens early 20s playing teenagers) from 18 down to 14 when the second season was commissioned in order to not have them leave school. You could tell, there's no way the blue ranger in particular (he was the oldest in real life) could pass for a teenager.

There are many other examples. The BBC are trying to allieviate the problem by filming two series of SJA back to back, so the kids (specifically Luke, since the others are 20-somethings already anyway) don't age as much between series.

The characters are at least ageing throughout though. They were in Year 10 to start the series off proper, did their GCSEs at the end of S3 and in an article I read are going to be doing A levels this year in the show.
