Things that may or may not be important...

Aside from, "silence is falling" here's a few other things that struck me as possible plot developments in future episodes:

1) Amelia's aunt. Where was she? Young Amy was too young to be legally home alone. The script makes a point of questioning that.

2) The duck pond. Why make a point of that? Is there more to this sleepy village than meets the eye? Or was it just a joke?

3) Rory's badge having an odd date of issue (1990). Mistake, or again, a hint about the village?

Anything else? Are these possibly important? Or not...

Have fun and speculate!

I found the duck thing very questionable as well. Reminded me of "the bees are disappearing" in a small way.
Such a small thing to point out but it was mentioned several times in season 4

Amelia said she hasn't got a Mum and Dad but when she produced the apple with the face on, she said her Mum had done it. Probably just an error though...

i did actually wonder about the Duck pond. i mean it was built specially for the scene so why wasn't it followed up? Why were there no ducks!!!
also a lot of people noticed the date on Rory's badge-and it seemed to be 'pointed out' by zooming in on it. Why? and it seems too blatent to be a production mistake.
damn the Moff and his plot development agdenda!

She said her mum used to do it, we don't know how long it's been since she lost her parents.

That's another good one. Because the Doctor does say, "it's fresh"... and I don't think Moffat, who's a very good writer, would make a mistake as obvious as that and let it get through the editing process.

I looked at it in a completely different way. I thought that Amy's parents had died/disappeared and she was sent to live with her aunt. Her mother used to carve faces in apples to get her to eat them so AMY carved the face in the apple and gave it to the doctor so that he would grow to like it, as she did as a child.

You know what they say about humans "always seeing patterns in the things that arent there"

I assumed she carves them herself in memory of what her mother did...

the date it took place and rorys badge is confusing because, during filming, pictures were taken of a newspaper stand that said 5-95 (so the atraxi incident was in 1995) but why did everyone have really up to date video phones and that women had what looked like a SKY remote for her tv and there was a runner listening to her ipod! CONFUSING!

I said the same sorta thing on a previous thread

Maybe he never met amy in 2010. But then i said "but in the 1990's, you wouldn't see people with pictures phones"

Also, one line that sticks out is when Amy was making her way to the door that she saw out of the corner of her eye. Although she hadn't ever seen the door previously, she says; "I don't have the key, I lost it". And the Doctor replies "How could you have lost it"?

So, how do you lose something that you didn't know you had? Also, where is Amy's aunt now?

They were referring to the key for the handcuffs, not the door...

Either we are reading far too much into this, or something very dark is going on in the village

I got a weird vibe from the village to be honest. I mean where is the village set in the doctor who world.

I'm convinced there's something wonky about the entire village as well, just doesn't add up and I refuse to believe they'd have made such a glaring error on Rory's badge and nobody noticed it during editing etc.

Me and the OH both had the thought that it was almost too perfect, too idillic looking, it could have been the set for a Miss Marple, but there are thing askew, the dates seem off, no ducks in the duck pond, just stuff slightly wrong, almost as if it had been created by someone who'd read about English villages, seen pictures but never actually been to one.

Also, to narrow the date a bit, the Doctor mentions Bebo, Facebook and Twitter. Facebook was created in 2004, Bebo in 2005 and Twitter in 2006, therefore it must be set in 2006 at the earliest.

I'm not that sad to know this, it just took a few seconds to look up online.

An older Amy will turn out to be the Aunt. She wasn't there because she was off with the Doctor..

The crash at the start was late nineties at the earliest (he flew over the London Eye). 12 years later puts it into the present day. Or am i missing something?

How about the crack? the shape of it appears at the end of the episode on one of the small screens in the Tardis. The Doctor even looks at the screen and turns it off.

Could the 5-95 have been something other than the date? I hadn't noticed it.

That is exactly what I was about to mention! When they are talking about the reason for Amy being the one he wants to take with him, he promises that the ONLY reason is that he is lonely. But when he says the word 'promise' the music changed slightly and we see that box with a weird moving line and strange noises. Makes me think he HAS to take Amy for some reason...
