SERIOUSLY!! LOOOL

I love doctor who...but cant help have a soft spot for Torchwood, when is Series 4 back on!!

I am dying to see how they will carry on the series. I have heard rumours that the fourth series is confirmed.

But when do they start filming and when is the airdate?

If anyone knows..thanks x

No news whatsoever to tell as of yet. Sorry.

It's getting stupid in all this waiting. My guess is May. I'm sure John barrowman would have finished Desperate by then.

as far as I know RTD, has said plans are in place for a 4th series but that's about it if there is one I think it's going to be 2011 or 2012 before we see it.

Torchwood is essentially a vanity project so unless RTD commits to producing more drama for the Beeb I wouldn't be surprised if it went on permanent hiatus.

if it dose come back I hope it will again be a 5 part series spread over a week .

Well he isn't doing doctor who, so what else is RTD gonna do. Torchwood should be next.

Opinion or verifiable fact?

Obviously opinion but do you really think a show where homosexuals run around Cardiff battling monsters from outer space would exist without RTD being able to leverage his Doctor Who influence?

Not knocking the show's gay friendly status BTW as it was one of the few aspects which set it aside from the usual sci-fi dross.

One (singular, not plural) gay actor, playing an onmisexual I think.... and Ianto (possibly). Not that sexuality should be an issue (well, it isn't for me .... I cant speak for others). You can choose other, more suitable threads for that discussion (threads that will not involve contributions from myself).

But yes, why not.

Judging from the reply overall (and if I am reading it correctly), perhaps I should have offered Biased opinion as an option instead.

Still, it will either return..... or it won't. And if it doesn't then the BBC will have seriously screwed up.

I think it got to the point where his sexuality was used rather over the top during the three series. I kinda felt like saying "ok russell, ur gay and that is cool but to over do it a lot in your shows is like a big over the top"

As is quite well documented, Torchwood's fate lies with BBC Worldwide and Fox in the US.

BBC Worldwide has pitched Torchwood to Fox - presumably with an RTD script attached. No idea yet where it would be set/filmed (obviously that could be two different locations).

As I understand it, there are differences of opinion as how best to proceed. Fox want to see a pilot before reaching a decision of whether or not to commission a full series; whereas BBC Worldwide are after a commitment to a full series upfront (because of cost implications, one would assume: if it spends money shooting a pilot that isn't then greenlit, it's just wasted rather a lot of money ...).

Of course, the BBC doesn't have to make Torchwood with Fox - but it would be cheaper if it did.

So we have a stalemate situation ...

All opinions are biased.

Besides I thought the consensus of opinion was that the first season of Torchwood with one or two exceptions was fairly pitiful.

Even the makers later admitted it wasn't up to snuff.

Children of Earth was the nuts though & any future series penned by RTD & not hacks like Chris Chibnall should be pretty special.

Captain Jack & Ianto.

Nobody really bats for both sides in real life so why should fiction be any different.

John already has several other projects lined up for the rest of this year, and into 2011.

Forgetting Chibnall wrote "Cyberwoman" for a second, it's a bit harsh to call him a hack when he wrote the superlative last three episodes of S2: "Adrift", "Fragments" and "Exit Wounds" which had me in tears (unlike "Cyberwoman" which had me in tears for other reasons).

Behaviour can be bisexual but people are essentially homosexual or heterosexual.

"Omnisexual" was a wheeze RTD dreamed up to slip in gay references at Saturday teatime.
