.... How great was Lauren on Saturday?

Lauren started singing lessons at the age of 13, although she started private LAMDA tutorials at the Hinkley Speech and Drama Studio at the age of seven and began her ballet classes at the age of two!

When Lauren was born she had a condition which meant she had to wear two hearing aids. She stunned doctors at the age of 18, however, when her hearing came back to a normal capacity.

She believes that Dorothy has a lot of balls and guts which she says she has - she wants to be a funny Dorothy, with lots of spark. She would also love to put all her training into action in the role. She feels that she is as impulsive as Dorothy is, and that like her, she is constantly striving for bigger and better things.

I'm slightly worried in calling her my fave ... they never win - Daniel Boys, Sarah Lark, Olly Murs .. not since Will Young win Pop Idol!

Still ... I'm sure she'll do fine

Wonder what her song will be next week! I'd love her to be able to do a solo of Legally Blonde!

Yeah!

She's my fave by miles - gorgeous singing voice and looks like Dorothy. I've just posted on the 'whack 'em' thread to say I just don't get the negativity about her.

Yeah definatly!! Saw Daniel in Avenue Q - I get that he probably wasn't right for Joseph, but he was incredible in AQ!

Also, got to see Sarah a couple of times live - even as Nancy in then end .... AMAAAZING!

But back to Lauren ....

I really like Lauren, I think she has an amazing voice and seems to act well from the little we've seen. I see that she could be viewed as a bit mature and diva-ish (I mean that in a good way) to play Dorothy, but can also see her carrying the role off.

Even if she doesn't win I think she's too good not to land something big before long. I could also see Lauren filling the Albert Hall in a few years!

Hopefully her song this week is faster and more dance like because she sounded really good in the mash up!

She also looks like Susan McFadden/her character Serena as well as suggesting she could sing the role.

I've heard she's a bit worried about her song this week as it doesn't show off her voice that much, but she's been working with Sheila Hancock on her acting skills so I believe she will pull it off anyway!!

Hope that doesn't turn out to be true. She's got the best voice in the comp imo.

I'm getting fed up of the BBC editing Lauren to make her look full of herself!!!! All she is doing is answering their questions but then they edit it to make it sound like she's saying things off her own back ... it's soooo unfair!!

Hopefully she will be aware of this now and take care how she answers any questions fired at her for VT (even if they are leading ones). If they edit her to come across as big-headed she will lose voters even if her performances continue to be good. To us Brits, unlike Americans, confidence often is interpreted as smugness - and the programme makers know this.

Lauren is the one Dorothy contestant who looks as though she could handle the pressure of night after night performances. She is definately one of my three favourites and I don't agree with Charlotte Church at all. If Lauren comes a cross as arrogant to some then that's tough because I would much rather go to the theatre and hear Lauren sing the role with her pitch perfect voice and believable acting than someone who might begin to crumble under the stress after a few months.

If Lauren isn't successful this time I am sure she soon will be picked up very quickly for another role. Hope so.

I agree, at the moment Lauren is the only one who I'd make a special point of going to see.

She doesn't strike me as arrogant or over-confident at all, in fact I can't find anything about her not to like. I do wonder though if she is being set up very slightly as the safe / experienced one who doesn't need to win?

I thought that too. But they always do that and not just on the BBC. ITV did it a lot on DOI especially with Heather Mills.

Really like Lauren but wasn't keen on that song. It didn't do justice to her fab voice imo.

Also I remember Seamus in 'Any Dream Will Do' ? He was portrayed as a real arrogant prat !

I was surprised and disappointed to see Lauren in the bottom two this week. I thought she made a good job of Never Fall In Love Again, not as strong as Run but far from a bottom-half performance.

Wow, I had no idea about that.

Good for her

She's been good in both performances and no way did she deserve to be in the bottom two. But it could well be a blessing in disguise.

Lauren is now in my top 3, it was the acting challenge what did it for me, I felt she was the best, despite the praise being heaped on Danielle. If she doesn't get Dorothy, I could see Eliza Doolittle, I don't what it is exactly about her, I thought about it while I was saying My Fair Lady would make an obvious choice for the next ALW show.
