I can't stop listening to Lauren's performance from yesterday. I have to admit I was onyl vaguely familiar with the song and my first view was slightly spoiled by annoyance at them giving her something so (relatively) obscure. But it has seriously grown on me. What a great vocal. There's a sense of sort of 'serious joy' (if you can have such a thing) that I really, really like about it. I love the song now too

I did recognise the song, but I do think she would have fared much better vote-wise with On My Own (I really wish we could have heard her sing this!!)... that said, she did an AMAZING job of Being Alive

I thought Lauren's performance was great yet again, though I only vaguely recognised the song and had to play it a couple of times to 'get into' it. I'd love to hear her sing 'On My Own' too.

i'd kind of heard of Company before Saturday, compared to Les Mis/ West Side Story & Mary Poppins, it's a fairly unknown musical .... However, i've also been singing it all weekend! Going to put that perfomance and the sing off from this week on my ipod later!
I also didn't realise it was normally sung by a man

Although I actually think she is that strong a performer she would be more suited to a leading role with more singing or something more mature you know I think shed make
a great Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady or even a great Mary Poppins!! Even if she's not Dorothy she will have a great career from this I know it! Extremely sad to come on the forum today and see horrible *I hate Lauren* threads. Really, can't people just keep that kind of comment to themselves? Lauren was fab again on Saturday, but it was still an angsty type song, and I wish ALW would insist on her being given a frivolous smiley uptempo number next week to show her off more as the all rounder she is to the watching audience. Having only voted once (to save my phone bill) before she was in the Bottom 2 I voted 3 more times after that. I thought the 2 exits were right this week. I think Sophie is too tall and statuesque for the role aswell, but who knows how the GBP will vote? TBH I'm not sure Sheila is too keen on Lauren, but as she hasn't got any weaknesses to pick up on, there isn't anything specific, but it's just an impression I get.Anyway, onwards and upwards, and wasn't it fabulous to hear all the girls singing MT songs!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() Hope your rehearsals are all going well this week Lauren, All the Best!

cant beleive she was in the bottom two. fingers crossed she is not in the bottom again as alw may question saving her again in fear of a backlash!
He might think 'I want the public to book up, and need a popular Dorothy, however talented Lauren is', cos it's hard to know if the GBP are thinking the same negative thoughts as some of the posters on DS? ![]() I also don't agree with John Partridge's comments that "she may not have been the best each week, but she's always delivered a solid performance". I think Lauren HAS been the best most of the weeks, but it seems to be something intangible why people say they don't like her. Take my sister, "I'm supporting Danielle, there's something about Lauren's face I don't like". BTW she went to the Over The Rainbow Singing Masterclass on Bank Holiday Monday at the Shaftesbury Theatre, and from her mobile clips it looked fabulous! She really loved it! Amy and Dani were there, with Jodie Prenger ofcourse, the BBC Singers and the Orchestra from the show. It was packed, and everyone had a great time singing along. They were filming, so I hope we see some clips on the shows next week.

Thankfully the hate thread has now been closed. But just take this ridiculous comment from pxxuk: Quote:
And no, I don't hate her but as others have commented already, I think she needs to show more emotion and compassion on and off stage!!
Blimey! Who has shown more emotion in their solo performances than Lauren? ![]() I would agree that she just doesn't come across well in the VTs though for a mass audience, who don't like to see confidence, but *humble*. Unfortunately. |

I think Lauren is brilliant and it was terrible she was in the bottom two again tonight. Being Alive is a wonderful song and Lauren performed it well, but it's just not well known enough to be a votewinner. Hopefully Lauren she will avoid the bottom two 'tomorrow' night.
I sadly don't think Lauren will win but it wouldn't surprise me if ALW doesn't immediately ask her to be the alternate or understudy, as with Aoife and Sarah Lark. Either way I think she will do very well from this programme and is certainly the breakout star like Rachel Tucker. In fact, she may get far more interesting parts than Dorothy if she does go home! Thanks for being so positive!

Lauren's lovely, even Arlene Phillips said so on her Twitter account last night!
![]() It would be great if posters on this thread could all bring together Lauren news and comment from elsewhere on the net for those of us who miss all the latest goss. Cheers!

I can't find Maysles' original post but I agree with the comparison with Rachel Tucker. As with Rachel, I think Lauren could do better out of not winning this as she has already shown that she is a serious contender to step straight into a major WE role, there are plenty of leading roles for her that would do better justice to her voice, and she would avoid the 'TV casting' label that gets attached to the winner.
I feel a bit disloyal to Lauren saying this but for these reasons I'm half-hoping she won't actually be cast as Dorothy. She will still get my vote this week (I'm abroad for the final) but whatever the result she is already a winner from this programme. ... And another ****** negative thread! I'm not rising to the bait this time but hoping it will disappear off page 1!

I'm not sure if I've posted on here before but I just wanted to add my support for all you Lauren fans (as well as the girl herself, obviously!). There is no way she deserved to be in the bottom two on Saturday night after that performance but she did herself proud in the sing off anyway. I *really* want her to make the final, but if I'm honest I'd almost rather she didn't win so I can go and see her in a better show than The Wizard of Oz!
I wouldn't be too disappointed if one of the younger girls got it and Lauren (and Steph) got to go straight into more mature (/better) parts. I've thought for a while that she reminded me of Rachel from IDA in terms of audience reaction to her so it wouldn't hugely surprise me if she did go next week, but in all honesty I can think of worse people's careers to emulate!

I don't believe she necessarily thinks she can win, but I know she wants to go as far as possible so that she has more chance to showcase her talent for future opportunities!
Ok ... She will want to get to the final but I think the last 3 weeks especially have been enough to showcase her talent .... I hope she gets an upbeat song this week! Say she's in the sing off ... Who would she be safe against? I bet only Steph ... OR Sophie if ALW really wants Danielle to win.
