Good luck to all you lot doing exams! I usually mark them (showing my age!) - GCSE French Orals, but not doing it this year.

Just rewatched the 2nd part of the show. I do think Danielle will make a great Dorothy but I wish Lauren could have got through to that part as well. Sophie's lovely but Lauren is a much stronger performer imo.

Hope she gets something really good now.

Haha maybe you marked my GCSE French oral SheShe! I got an A*

Hiiii everyone else, hope you're all having a nice evening! I hope Lauren joins her fellow Dotties on Twitter. Monkseal and I were chatting about how some of her tweets would be priceless (we'd hope); along the lines of 'relatively expensive double-quilted make-up removal pads'. There's a whole tweet in itself!

Lauren is going to sing “I Could Have Danced All Night” or, as it might as well have been titled “I Could Have Given Lauren A Song That Suits The Part She’s Auditioning For, But As We Know She’s Going To Finish Third, I’m Going To Let Her Show Off Her Soprano So She Can Get Work Elsewhere SO THERE”.

Given that became such a term of abuse on these boards when posting about Lauren, I don't find it that funny

The concept of Diet Barrowman is quite funny, I'll give you that, but, even looking back, 'confident monster' just served to give the lie to the allegedly 'arrogant' VT from week 2 and I don't think Lauren's vote ever really recovered from that

I remember the spoiler thread being filled up one week with rhymes and limericks about the 'confident monster'. It was all very unpleasant

Could do with you around the office at the moment. One of my colleagues has just returned from a long weekend in Paris armed with bags of fruit chews bought while she was over there. The inside of the wrappers each has a joke in French (a bit like those you find inside Christmas crackers). There has been much entertainment in translating them, with online translaters. Either they aren't working properly, or the French have a very odd sense of humour

I agree Ian, the 'confident monster' still grates on me too!

Can understand it not being a slogan you guys would be keen on, so bury it here and now!

The reality is she was a big part of this years show (the slogan maybe helped, a little) and will be thought of very highly by fans of the series (whoever we backed) and given the chance to watch Lauren (pay for tickets) most of the punters on this subforum will jump at the chance, she has a great future ahead.

Dont be down

This was a great success, a fantastic career boost, think of Rachel (IDA) and where this will lead, she's got the break now she just has to show a little confidence in her abilities, and who better than C..... sorry we were gonna leave that buried

Top three finish! . . . . The ball is really in her court.

I can cope with Confident Monster in the way that Monkseal uses it; from what I can tell he's poking fun at the public perception of her, which I'm pretty happy with as we're not fans of what has, at times been, the public perception of her. If he was doing it to completely slag her off, it would be a different matter!

Great video!!

I had honestly hoped that the nickname was deliberately cack-handed enough for people to realise that it wasn't really an insult, more a joke that any confidence shown on these sort of shows (particularly I think by women) is seen a monstrous trait. Girls have to say they're so surprised and shocked and humble and grateful every five seconds so the public feel all warm and noble about the dream they've "gifted" to them.

I did notice that it was kind of being used as an actual insult occasionally which no, I wasn't ecstatic about either but hey ho.

I got it, don't worry. People may have seen her as up herself. But I didn't. I actualy thought she was joking, with most of what she said. But of course that was what she wanted.... to be better than the others. That's the whole aim of the contest.... to win the role. It wasn't a holiday camp. She just had the guts to come out and say it.

I find it funny how Confidence can be perceived to be an insult! An actress without any would be fairly useless to be quite honest!

I don't even think she was that much more confident than the other girls (both of the things she said in the week 2 VT that led to Charlotte telling her to calm it down were said by Jenny at a later point with minor adjustments and nobody batted an eyelid) - I think she had an unfortunate tendency to keep on talking at times when it might have been wiser to keep things short and sweet, but apart from that her personality seemed perfectly fine to me.

The only problem is that the early perception led to silly VTs like that one in the fairground which was all "LOOK! SHE HAS FRIENDS AND HAS FUN AND IS NORMAL!" which just came across as silly and forced and a bit desperate (on the show's part).

^ Monkseal I loved your comment about Lauren leaving a present for the producers of the VT's on their doorstep

It's true tho, some people, who they actually let vote ... do so on the basis of VT's and what their Nan's are like.

Well it would make people enclined to vote more, if they felt like they knew the person in a sense, if they were endeared to them. You aren't going to spend a bucket load on someone you can't stand, no matter how talented they are. A lot of people said Lauren was annoying. I liked her and found her funny.

You know it's true.... that's how the game is played. Lauren probably got through on her talent, more than on her personality though, which is a bonus. Shows how talented she really is.

Actually ,I thought the fairground VT was quite acceptable. At that time however I had'nt been paying to much attention to Lauren.I was focusing more on Emilie (yes,I know).Looking back however I realise it's significance
The thing that really stood out as blatantly over the top,was the VT of Danielle's birthday.
By comparison Lauren's fairground friends was positivity normal.

As iconic as Judy Garland made this role, there is a reason it is little performed outside of school productions

Lauren has a brilliant career ahead of her and I'm glad she will grace the West End in a more mature role despite my love for all things WoO.

The winner and the runner up faked it there. If they can, fake it there, they can't fake it, everywhere, it's up to you ...

Lauren won.
