Why doesn't Family Affairs get covered nor does it get the credit it deserves?

I have a question
A simple question to some simple people

WHY THE F**K DOESN'T FAMILY AFFAIRS EVER APPEAR?

ok sorry for that minor outburst but it just annoys me how this soap doesn't get covered. I has been going for well over 5 years so it is clear that people watch it so why not allow Family Affairs to post.

COME ON!

there already are better soaps, no one wants to spend to much time watching five (H&A is enough).
Mainly it's force of habit, and the show is just not good enough.

Lousy scripts, lousy acting, but worst of all, that awful fake film effect they use.

Simple: it only gets a 5% aud-share; that means 95% of viewers choose to watch somthing else!

Any show that gets such low ratings should be axed

There are areas in the uk that still can't receive C5 or the reception is very poor so unless you have some form of digital tv you just dont tune in. So some of the uk population have never seen family affairs

It's not that bad, it's really improved and the storylines are getting good, it's better than EE anyway....

FA is way ahead of EE in terms of scripts, storylines and acting at the moment (although that's not difficult). I think the reason it doesn't get better viewing figures is (a) it's on at a tricky time, 6.30 is a bit too early for the type of audience it wants (b) reception of c5 is patchy (c) gets little publicity.

I only started watching it a few months ago, have been very impressed with quality of the storylines. Has some very original ones, juxtaposed with some traditional soap fodder -- illicit affairs. EE could learn a lot from them. And Kazia Pelka, who's had a major storyline recently, is a very good actress.

One good point of FA having a low profile is that is gets away with some quite controversial storylines -- lot of gay action going on and the tabloids couldn't care less

Pat Butcher is not supposed to be a good looking starlet. However Pam St Clement could act the socks of anyone in F/A. I think Victoria in Emmerdale could act better then anyone in F/A. It is completey false, with lousy scripts and lousy storylines

FA for me is still the soap to have the most ridiculous massacre ever - the entire Hart family being blown up on a boat. The fact they actually dispatched decent characters like Holly and Melanie just because they were part of that family, but retained Nick from next door, slimy Dave and Roy, is an example of how misguided this show's ideas have been since early on.

FA just doesnt work. The reasons are to long to go into.

However, the charators are dull and dont gel with each other. The storylines are just crap and the acting is very qestionable.

If this show was on any other network it would have been axed years ago. why five keep going with it is beyond me.

they should axe it and make a new soap set in sunny spain.

All you people who criticise it, have you actually watched a weeks worth of it since the revamp late last year? I watched it before the revamp and thought it was Alright, then i watched it after the revamp and loved it!

I'm a recent convert to FA thanks to my mum
She has been watching it from day one and i have always managed to resist it but while visiting her i was drawn into the Chrissie saga and am now hooked.

I think its a good soap with interesting storylines and it would be a huge shame if 5 ever axed it

I statrted watching a while ago but after a few months went back to the ITV news. It's just poorly acted, has an awful film effect, suffers from terrible scripting and in my opinion just isnt very good. That is however just my opinion.

As for why it doesnt get covered, well as stated before it's mainly because it's on Five (which is a minority channel) and I would guess that as Fives coverage is weak it misses out on a lot of potential viewers. Had Family Affairs been on ITV1 at 2pm weekdays it could have been a differnt story

We cant get channel 5 down here unless it's through a digital box - and although I've got one, I dont want to get roped into another soap. I already watch the other main three soaps as it is, another one & I'd turn into a recluse!!

I've never really wached Family Affairs, but I guess the reason why it doesn't get credit for anything is partly because it's on 5.

As mentioned before, some people still can't get five, and those that do would rather watch something else then 5ive. In our house, we only watch Home and Away and the occassional documentary, nothing else.

5ive just don't have the money to make it big, or as big as ITV and BBC.

Shame really, as even if 5ive put on the best soap ever, it's likely to go unnoticed being the station it is.

Five has got better coverage than it had 5-7 years ago and with Digital springing up there is no reason not to watch it

I agree, I cannot believe Family Affairs walked away with nothing at the Soap Awards. The panel are idiots.

Family Affairs is, along with Doctors, the only surviving new soap since Hollyoaks. I think Family Affairs is suffering less then Crossroads but in a similar style.

As was said when Crossroads and Night and Day were launched, it's oversaturation. When Family Affairs was launched it was still ok to have a new soap, particularly to go with the new channel.

It's fair to say FA has struggled, people don't want to get into new soaps, and FA has the same kind of cult following as Crossroads, but Channel Five can afford to support it, as it gets a largish share of its ratings.

If ITV or BBC had launched it, and got the same audience share, it would have gone years ago.

It also takes up a sizable shunk of their budget by all accounts.

There are just too many soaps to watch them all. Even when I used to watch it I'd watch Hollyoaks at 6.30 and catch up on the weekend repeat.
Not to say it'd work at any other time though.

Why don't they get any awards? Well the sheer number of viewers on the other soaps (what was it 7 awards judged by viewers?) mean it's impossible, even back in the day with babes such as Cordelia Bugeja.
