"Hayley went on the show to win. The other contestants all have jobs ..."

From the D Spy story Tamaddon 'needed DOI to raise profile'
Quote:
“Her father Nassi told The Sun: "Hayley went on the show to win. The other contestants all have jobs but Hayley doesn't.

"She's been teaching drama part-time at Blackpool and The Fylde College, but that's been it. It has been tough. She hopes appearing on the show will raise her profile and help her get acting work."”

There is, of course, nothing wrong with aiming to win or with wanting to raise one's profile, but it's unusual to have it stated so explicitly, which may be why it was considered newsworthy.

I wonder how Hayley felt him revealing that!

Some of the other contestants from this series don't have work. Danniella finished filming Eastenders during the training for the first show, Danny & Gary don't work either do they.

Only ones I am aware of that were working whilst the series was on were Kieron, Mikey, Dr Hilary & Bobby. I don't think the latter 2 would ever have been any good no matter how hard they trained though.

Indeed and Mikey and Bobby both showed how dubious it was (both in performance terms and in asking people to spend money voting for them) having people on the show who were not spending enough time on it and even Kieron would probably have been better if he wasn't fitting it in around work.

The only reason anyone accepts a job - is when they are free to do the work.

If Hayley went on to raise her profile - why not. Isn't that what everyone else is doing on that show? And she went on to win - that shows how dedicated she is to anything she attempts. Nobody could have achieved her standard without very hard work. As the saying goes "she gave it her all". She might have annoyed me during the show but she should be applauded for her achievement.

I didn't think Mikey was the worst and I would vote for him again as he provided me with entertainment. He tried hard imo.

They all want to win. Only one contestant can win, but that doesn't mean the others aren't bothered about winning.

It's pointless to talk about 'having a job' in the world of actors and performers appearing on shows like this anyway. Obviously they are looking forward to the next opportunity while still doing as good a job as they can in the current one - it's the very nature of what they do. Virtually nothing in their world is forever and few gigs are are more than for a limited period. SCD and DOI are jobs, just as much as a run in panto, a guest arc on Casualty, a concert tour or whatever.

Well, I'm glad he's not my Father!

Talk about not bothering who might be upset just to get your own moment of fame.

Has anyone said it's a crime? Indeed, I said "nothing wrong with aiming to win or with wanting to raise one's profile", and I don't think anyone has said otherwise.

Yet she thinks she won because she put up post-it notes.
