Micro HiFi
Can i have some suggestions from people in the know here? cheers
![]() Basically im wanting to get a new micro hifi, has to be good quality speakers with good bass (obviously!) But i dont wanna pay lots. Perhaps about £130 max....also inputs would be handy so i can connect my PC up to it. The best one ive sene so far i think is this - http://www.comet.co.uk/comet/html/cache/172901.html It doesnt look that great but its specs are good....problem with the comet site is the info they give is usually wrong i think, i checkedit out instore and it does have a cassette deck, right/left phono inputs and i *think* it also does RDS, but im not sure. So..any recommendations? cheers

Take a look in your local branch of Tesco. They do hifi's and at prices that are reasonable [sub £100 the ones in my local store - various brands]

It is largely the default recommendation on most HiFi forums for a mini/micro system; avforums, HiFi choice, etc. Plenty of inputs, and no cassette deck - but you can get one for it. |

The JVC RVB 550 is truly awesome - search for it on E Bay.
Bass response to blow your socks off. I'm listening to one now at a very low volume level and the bass is still superb. Mind you it looks kinda like a coloured drain pipe... |

It's been a while since this topic began, but could anyone recommend anything in Argos.
£130/40 ish tops. The Sharp is in there, but I' m a little confused as the Argos catalogue doesn't really provide the same information as Comet. Comet says it doesn't play casettes, while the Argos catalogue does. And what's the Sharp like in terms of thingies on the back, lol. i.e phonos. Any help would be much appreciated. |

Sharp is not a brand I would normally associate with good sound, but that model certainly seems packed with features for the money.
Trouble is for around £130, you are close to getting some real HiFi equipment from the likes of Richer's Sounds. Depends on whether you like flashing lights or not I guess. My local Comet will demonstrate gear -ask them for a trial listen first before you decide. |
