Goodness knows where they came from, it seem like if it were out of the blue, but their first track is pretty neat sounding to me. Guess you lot think its shit (as usual ). But like if i care about what others think of it, i like it

no idea about the sample but i do like the track - saw a live performance on mtv base which was pretty good - good to know that sometimes record execs will let some british talent come through

Yea its okay, bit of an annoying vocal ( the get down on my knees bit )

Shame they ruined it with an american rapper in the middle of it - Would have liked them to keep it UK

I heard the 411 girls say that the sample is actually Cuba Gooding Senior sped up to sound like a woman. Hope that helps.

I think this song is terrible. The vocals are technically lame ( i think i wrote some more sophisticated ryhmes in primary school), and sonically sound awful -almost karaoke like. And Ghostface?! He's got like 5 lines, and you can just tell he regrets signing up to do this.

well not agreeing with you because i havent heard ghostface killahs rhymes yet since i hardly listen to the radio these days but to back up your point in a way it might explain why he chose not to be in the video

This is Ghostface's rap:
And yo' I asked you to calm down
Asked you who was on the phone put the horn down
You had a glass of wine a Versace night gown, a lime green one
That I brought you for the trip from the cruise you won,
I don't approve of those male friends, (no)
I told you back then when we first got together, I don't trust those men
And you did it again I lost my temper, blinked out and wrecked the house boo
That's all I remember, I'm sorry
I heard the song without the rap the other day, and it does seem kinda bare...

The thing is, the rap is best bit!

I remember how we met it was on the train
how could i forget you smiled and looked at me
the soft of your lips, they captured me
the whole ride down we kept our eyes on each other
and then we sat, down together
you gave me your number, said give me a call
I thought i wouldn't call at all
here we are fell in love like hand to glove
pure bliss from above
now all we seem to do is fuss and fight
we never seem to get it right
See there's too much fire so much desire
so it took a little time to take me higher
I'm sorry if i hurt you and i went astray
I guess we gotta call it a day
ha heh

The "the get down on my knees" vocal is very annoying and I think it spoils the song a little.

But they are good to look at

Apparently "the 411" or 411 means something to americans, so they are squarely aimed at the US market. US producers too, I think.

Although some lines like "you got me going crazy, got me going insane", verge on the naff (and sound familar from somewhere), overall, I like it alot, and I would have thought it has a strong chance of a top 3 entry. Think it's out this week, anyone know its midweek?

As an extremely old soulgirl, I'm 99.9% sure its a sample of a song by The Main Ingredient (which did feature Cuba Goodings dad) and I think the song was called something like 'That Aint My Style'.

Back to the song though., I really, really like it. Its a really laid back, summer soul number.

Btw, I did read they called themselves The 411as a nod to Mary J Blige , who is one of their biggest influences.

I didnt realise it was a sample, I just thought it was one of the girls singing in a stylistic way, and/or they'd messed about with her voice. Ya learns
