Correct positioning of bipole surrounds
Just bought a pair of bipole rear surround speakers and would like to know where is the best position for them?
The manual says either to the side of the listening position (on the side walls), or on the back wall. I'd like to use the back wall option, but would like to know if anyone has experimented with both positions? If I do go for the back wall option, how high should the speakers be, and how far in from the side walls? Thanks. |

Hi, I had a pair of bipolar rear speakers for a couple of years and have used them in both positions. To be honest, it seemed to make very little difference! I also tried a position where they could reflect off walls, and again, very little difference (I have a yamaha DSP-AX1 amp and denon A1 DVD player). I now use full range floor mounted speakers at the rear which for me seems to work best.

I went for the back wall and they sound great!
I can't believe the sound I'm getting from such small (and cheap!) speakers. |
