Matt
Personally, I think he has been great so far especially in 'The Beast Below' with the angry doctor part. I loved that part and I also think he has great comic timing.

Karen
I also think she has been very good. Enjioyed her performance in 'Eleventh Hour' a bit more than in 'The Beast Below'. I think she will be very good in later episodes.

What do you think of the new leading actors?

I have been pretty impressed by them both so far, especially Matt, who I feel has had the strongest start in the role since the series returned in 2005. No mean feat when you consider the people who he is following on from. Karen has had some sparkling dialog, and I liked that Amy played a major part in the resolution to the episode this week, and Amy seems like she will keep Eleven on his toes. Not sure I am that keen on the wedding sub plot though.

Matt - A+
Karen - B+

Matt Smith is the Dr already for me. I don't even think of anyone else being in the role.

Karen Gillan has grown on me a lot. She was ok-ay in the 11th Hour but I thought she was excellent in The Beast Below.

Right now, I think Karen's a more natural actor than Matt.

She seems to be finding it a lot easier to convey thoughts/emotions through her acting. Matt sometimes looks a bit forced and, dare I say it, 'klunky', but he's still a very good actor. The 'angry doctor' scene caught me by surprise - it was brilliantly done.

And the more I think about it, the more I wonder if his 'klunkiness' is written into his acting on purpose? This doctor definitely reminds me of Troughton, who I think Matt said he was loosely basing his doctor on.

I think the klunkiness is part of the characterisation.

Matt's Doctor is supposed to be clumsy, Serif, which accounts for the clunkiness you refer to.

I agree, but there have been the odd couple of occasions where it looks as if he's momentarily struggling.

That's not to say I think he's not good. I think he's brilliant. Just what we needed after Ecclestone's dark and moody, and Tennant's rollercoaster of happy/jovial/dark/despairing, Matt's bought back the kind of 'bumbling mad-man genius' qualities that were starting to go missing from Tennant's doctor towards the end.

Loving Both....but feel that I am yet to discover what exactly Eleven is like and where the other Doctors end....for example, I liked how the Tenth Doctor in him ended in last week's opener, but because there was a lot of two in him this week, it was hard for me to pin down how much of that is Eleven and how mucg it was Two. But I'm not criticising Matt....I think he just wants to make me replace him with Two in my top ten of the Doctors Seriously though, I love seeing Two in him more, than I did seeing Ten in him.

I'm loving both apart from that speech Karen gave towards the end of 5.02 which was way over the top. With that one exception i think they're both doing stonkingly.

Absolutely love Matt's Doctor. I think he's brilliant.

Amy is fine. I don't dislike her but I've not attached to her as quickly as I did either Rose or Donna, both of whom I still love. I think she'll really grow though.

I thought Matt Smith was absolutely outstanding last week, I was blown away. This week dented it somewhat for me, as I found the whole ep somewhat underwhelming. As an actor and as the doctor though, I think he was an inspired choice and hope there's some real knockout eps. on the way!

Amy doesn't feel like much of a character to me yet: she came with a great story, but as an adult her character is pretty murky. Of course, we met her at the same time as the new doctor, so it was all about him, but I don't like not really knowing who she is, especially when it seems as though the show seems to expect otherwise. This week, for example, her actions were pivotal, but as we don't really know her, it came across to me as being somewhat erratic and unjustified. But I don't think that's the actress' fault, I just hope she's better developed, or the lack of development is purposeful and will become clear. Certainly stuff from the first ep leaves it being a future plot point a real possibility.

So really all I think after two episodes is: let's see more!

I'm loving Matt so far. I'm hesitent to over-praise him after only two epsiodes, considering the many great Doctors that have preceded him. But I've liked him so much so far, he could end up being my favourite Doctor if he carries on like this.

I can't say the same for Amy, however. She's already my favourite companion of New Who and possibly of Who in general. I just love this girl - and not just because she's smoking hot. That's an advantage for sure, but I'm loving her character. She just knocks it out the park for me.

I absolutely love both of them. I actually can't believe just how much i love them. He IS the Doctor and she is his perfect companion.

I can't wait to watch the rest of the series and i'm already hoping for a good few years from both of them.

He is a total geek, awkward looking, horrible nerdy outfit...
I think his acting is ok though..

This is a long way from Tennant and Billie Piper...perhaps too far for me

Tennant and Piper didn't have the chemistry.

In a word - marvellous!

The chemistry between the Doctor and Amy is brilliant. Much more...personal and intimate than number 10 and Rose, which tried to hard to be romantic and even poetic sometimes imho. Here it's natural and electric, like two close friends. It helps that they have a brilliant writer too.

So far, two excellent episodes. Hope Mark Gatiss can carry it on next week.

You can't balme Karen for that though, that's the writers surely?

He's fine. Still puts me in mind a little of Jon Pertwee and of Tom Baker.

I still think Amelia as a child would be a better companion.
