I loved the delivery of that line, it suggests to me the Daleks don't remember (or are pretending not to remember) who they are and The Doctor is trying to provoke them.

"Urhm.. hai... my name's Ross... I'm here to...."
"CAN I BE OF ASSISTANCE?!"
"Well... yes... I was wondering if I could..."
"WOULD YOU LIKE A CUP OF TEA?!"

"I'm suddenly faced with a tough decision, on the one hand, I don't want to get exterminated, on the other, I don't fancy a brew. I could see things were about to kick off, so I got outta there!"

Ross runs back to the TARDIS

The review posted on another thread suggests that there's an
Spoiler

Eternal Dalek

in this episode.

It also says that the episode is both very good and very bad, with the redesign of the Daleks and some story aspects perhaps leading to an exodus of the fans!

i read that review, they gave the story 7/10.

But anyway, the stuff about the new daleks reads like someone who doesn't like the design having a rant. As if anyone who is a fan of the show is going to stop being a fan due to this design, absolutely ridiculous!

The reality is that for 99% of the audience won't notice the difference other than the different colours.

I didnt notice half of the changes until they were pointed out

you know the old saying "If it looks like a duck" etc etc It is still recognisable as a dalek so who cares

the change in design is no where near as radical as some are trying to make out. I showed it to people at work and other than the colours they thought they were the same daleks!

Perhaps Bracewell is a

robot or even a roboman, given that SM seems to quite like the Cushing films - as in TARDIS and new Dalek designs

And def looking forward to Spitfires in space ”

the robomen weren't robots

My apologies, my intention was to imply that Prof Bracewell was under the hypnotic control of the Daleks in the same manner as the robomen. my wording could have been better - sorry.

I'm with you on that one ... that and the way Churchill speaks "this is my new sekwet weapon" give me an ever worse feel than I already have. Been loving the first 2 episodes but just can't warm up to this one, even after seeing the 3 new preview clips today I haven't seen or heard anything that really excites me

Hope I'll get proven wrong

Was amused by the trailer clip were Amy decides to confront a Dalek "soldier" - especially when the Doctor uses her "Sunday name" to try and rein her in!

He could well be an android or a dalek creation

Looks like he has lost a hand in that picture and there are wires coming out of where the bones should be.

Did No one listen to the last extract that Alun Vega uploaded?

*shakes head*

Everybody listened to the more rubbishy sound clips, but the last one?!!!!! Now that was cool.

Does anybody know the clip I mean?

In the last sound clip he uploaded, Alun Vega recorded a confrontation scene between Bracewell and the Daleks:
Spoiler
Bracewell: ...the hell are you doing? You are my Ironsides!
Dalek: WE ARE THE DALEKS!
Bracewell: But I created you!
Dalek: NO! WE CREATED YOU.

It was a brilliant clip!

Hmm - I spend too much time reading threads when I am meant to be working. Anyhow, I digress

Has it occured to anyone that these "new Daleks" are in fact from the future - remember Daleks do time travel.

Or other dimension Daleks - as seen in numerous comic stories.

Or hell, even the movellans, pretending to be daleks

Or simply none of the above, and we will all have to wait to find out.

There is a spoiler free, and very postive, review of VOTD from Doctor Who Online here:

http://www.drwho-online.co.uk/news/D...-3-dwo-preview

Quote:
“Victory of the Daleks is a far cry from the run-of-the-mill Dalek stories we have come to expect of late (Rob Shearman's Dalek being a much-loved exception). It takes some of the successful elements from the Classic series, and re-paints a new - more importantly, fresh story, that will take The Doctor's greatest enemy in a whole new direction.”

Ross runs back to the TARDIS”

If the Daleks start shouting "Ahhh, go on go on go onnnn!" then that could be the combination of the two most terrifying things on Television!
A Dalek-ised Mrs Doyle would scare the children for YEARS!!

"ARE....YOU...SURE......DOCTOR?...THERE'S....COCAINE...IN....IT!"

“In short: creepy, geeky, Daleky heaven, 'Victory Of The Daleks' is easily the best episode yet of Series 5 - and certainly the best Dalek episode since, well, 'Dalek' back in 2005”
