BT has been voted the worst phone company - again.

See:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/p...ne-survey.html

Naturally BT disagree, but I for one don't.

I would vote them the worst Company in Britain, not just the worst phone company.

U switch who ran the survey an not regarded by Ofcom as being impartial, and as they make money from people using their site to switch providers slating the Telco with the largest number of customers is hardly a suprise

The reason the customers were using Uswitch was because of dissatisfaction with BT so of course they would have had a bad experience, either because of cost or bad customer service.
"A pinch of salt with that sir?"

uSwitch - are nothing more than charlatans.
they drum up business trying to get people to switch so they can scoop sign up fees.

the facts speak for themselves - uSwitch can't even obtain government/regulator approval as an impartial service. they can't be trusted to be honest.

I've never had any problems with BT; had my landline with them for years. At least they have free helplines unlike other phone providers I could mention.

I decided to cancel my phone line with BT. The final bill came for £4.97. I had cancelled my dfirect debit as I had previously received a bill from BT completely ignoring the fact that I had cancelled the contract. Anyhow, I called to pay the remianing balance after I had moved and was told that the operators can no longer take payment. I must call the automated line. I had a little moan but then called the automated line. I was then told that my phone number did not match my account number on the automated line. I then called the operator back and he told me it was because my account had been closed down. I asked why considering I hadn't paid the final bill. He had no answer. He then said he would take payment. I askwed why they had previosuly told me that they couldnt take my payment before - he had no answer. As the payment was about to go through I was told that the payment could not be authorised - the reason? - that it was below £5. I must therefore send a cheque to BT for the money. I cannot believe what a ridiculously idiotic company BT is.

I will never go back to them. I cannot even pay my final bill without a huge drama.

I had planned to have a BT line in my new place but they wanted to charge me £125 despite the fact that the previous resident had a working line there only a few months before me. I was told it had gone over 3 months. I remeber they used to say it was as long as the equipment was still there and hadnt been tampered with. It just seems like a money making excercise now to charge you £125 for a new line regardless. Amateurs! Dont they relaise that if they annoy people like this then people will leave and NEVER come back to them.

I've just bought a place where the previous owner died in August (8 months ago). With and one phone call to 0800 800 150 I succeeded in arranging cessation of my existing line on the moving date and re-activation, free of charge, of the deceased person's line (with a new number) the same day.

Being in the same BT area (although not the same STD code area), I retained my existing BT account number too.

Sometimes, it works as it should.

I am getting nuisance calls from some Out of Area company wanting to sell me unlimited call packages for landlines. I have removed my voice messaging service from my line, I have registered my phone with TPS and also my telephone number is ex-directory and withheld.

I have hung on the line and tried to get my number off their mailing list and also asked which company these were for, on both occasions I was told no.

Yesterday this company left another voice message on my phone about unlimited calls. I wanted to get through to BT to see if they could do something about it. I had the phone put down on me twice by their BT's foreign call centre after the third time of getting through to them and much arguing I managed to get the nuisance advice line number. Phoned them up and and some snotty woman who wasn't interested in what I had to say and she put the phone down on me.

I have sent an e-mail to ian livingston and two people from the Executive Level Complaints exactly why the phone was put down on me and also the BT Nuisance Calls Bureau Manager who is going to trace the call and get into the person who is dealing with these to stop them from calling me.

What gets me is why do BT have to do something when an e-mail comes through from a customer and cannot be done at source ie call centre.

I've had a phone line from BT since they were the only option.

I've had one fault which was dealt with quickly and professionally.

Given that they are the only supplier who has to allow you to use 1899 et al there is no way I'd consider changing.

(Don't tell them that, though, as I get free evening calls for promising not to move for 18 months.)

The fact is BT will be around forever due to all the companies that are using their lines, with the amount of customers they will be strong, these polls are just small amount of customers as BT have 11 million customers.

Been with BT for many years and never had a problem with them. They provide a working telephone line and I pay their bills. No big deal.

Until I had the misfortune to have to contact them twice recently - once for myself regarding a billing issue and once on behalf of my parents regarding a broadband issue.

And both times I was led a merry dance and both times BT demonstrated breathtaking incompetence, underhandedness and inflexibility.

Most companies seem fine until something goes wrong and that is when the wheat is separated from the chaff.

BT are most certainly the chaff!
