Microsoft Kin: A phone for social-networking with no App store?
Yesterday, MS had unveiled their Project Pink which is now technically called as Microsoft Kin.
What's surprising about this phone is its turtle-like style and its functionality. (no app store, cloud based storage, and no games!) What's your opinion about this one? |

It's not a smartphone, it's an inexpensive phone to compete with other inexpensive phones.
Microsoft's smartphone platform is Windows Phone 7 which this does not compete with. I think it looks good as long as it's sub £100 but no price has been released so far. |

At $99 with a two year contract and barely any features that it - as a social phone - was meant to have, the phone has been discontinued just six weeks on the Market. :S
No App store, no calendar, No predictive text, no Im client - all missing on a social networking phone for the youth. Crazy. $99 plus a two year contract at $70 a month ![]() I doubt people at Redmond even bought their kids one. Seems crazy when you see people moan at the iPhones price and what you get. I think that Microsofts more, Apple-like, route of Windows Phone 7 will be more successful. Having strict control over what type of hardware the phone runs on, not allowing Vodafone or O2 et all to interfere with the Os with their hideous branding and adding substantial features through updates. |
