Energy Drinks
A friend of mine is partial to a vodka and red bull when he pops over of a Wednesday night. Having just popped over to the supermarket, I was flabbergasted to see the price of a small can is now £1.35!
I don't wan't to come over as cheap but I really resent paying this for a can of sugar and caffine. I noticed a lot of other brands of energy drinks but I've always bought the same one. Just wondered if anyone could recommend a generic brand which I could serve without him noticing the difference. I love him dearly but I'm already forking out for food, beer, wine and cigars every week. God Bless, Teddy |

I find Emerge is much cheaper and is very similar to Red bull, you can buy it usually from Asda or B&M. Sainsburys used to be the same but they added something which makes it fragrant tasting.

I was addicted to Vodka and Red Bull. Big time. I'm now down to only six double shots and three cans per night. I'm not so worried about my health, or my teeth, but I was worried about my bank balance. I've now resolved this by going for store own brands, and my brand of choice is Tesco KX (formerly Tesco Kick). Although it's slightly better value going for the litre bottles, I find they go flat a bit too quick so prefer the cans. The only supermarket brand I hated was Morrisons, which smelt, and I imagine probably tasted, like cat pee.

Thanks for the KX. Will pick some up and Mrs. Bleads and I will do a taste test before Jason arrives. |

Emerge and Blue Charge are pretty good and they both taste similar to Red Bull. Both can be purchased at ASDA.
Emerge is about 23p and Blue Charge is about 35p. |

Thanks for the info chaps. I tried a sneaky KX last night but he rumbled me on the colour without even having to taste. I had to tell him I picked up the wrong can.
Will have another go with a different brand next week. |

Never tasted it but Lidl have one which even looks like the Red Bull can - lots of the bars here in Spain buy it and pass it off as Red Bull.

No, I can't really. Partly because I spent most of my youth ribbing him about his apparent stingyness (waving arms vigerously and shouting look out - moths, every time he opened his wallet) and partly because he was made redundant 18 months ago and I know he's really struggling. He always brings a bottle of wine.
I'm not bothered about spending the money on him particularly, I just resent the fact a can of pop can go up 35% in less than a year. |

I like this drink called Guarana, I can only get it at a local Brazilian restaurant but once they sold me a crate of 2 litre bottles which was cool
