Something in The Beast Below

Did anyone else notice
Spoiler
the Magpies Electricals sign above the part where Amy breaks into the tent after following the girl?

Do you reckon this will have any significance or is just some kind if 'throw-away reference' to the previous series?

Probably just throwaway. There have been numerous references to Magpie since it first appeared in The Idiots Lantern, and it was described as a running gag in Dr Who Confidential

Definitely a hint of things to come, I think.

No, I think it was just little nod and nothing else, although I wouldn't be surprised to see similar nods in Mark Gatis Dalek episode.

It was explained in a Confidential episode that it is an in-joke by the production crew, all television devices appear to come from Magpie electronics since the Idiot's Lantern

The same Confidential ep showed a Magpie Electricals badge on the new TARDIS console.

i can't decide between self-referential in-joke or badwolf series ark. It seems to have been given undue prominence for a joke, but then I can't see anyway in which it might develop into an overarching plot.

Can't decide?

It was explained in a Confidential episode that it is an in-joke by the production crew, all television devices appear to come from Magpie electronics since the Idiot's Lantern

That would make up my mind...

I don't necessarily believe they were being entirely honest with us. I also feel the billboard was given massive prominence for a production in-joke.

i dont remember that comment about magpies being a production in-joke but im sure that it must be true now so many of you have said it - ill have to watch confidential again the next time i watch it all through
i couldnt think of a plot arc to bring it back in either, and thought it was prob throwaway but you never know with this show, the same way they had the saxon posters in the background early.
as rincewind78 says though it looks like, after seeing the end of this episode, that
Spoiler
the crack on the hull and the other cracks which happen to be hidden from view like the one behind the TARDIS tonight will play a big part in the plot arc of this series
