then you can start a general thread on the politics section about how celebrities are used for parties....and that would cover DT being involved as well...

What????????”

I was saying that DT isn't really part of Labour but htere showing him off like a collectible. What i meant was that if we all got say a 10.5 for voting Labour i would do it. Otherwise he really has no true connection above any other person. Why can't i, say, go to labour and demand to be in an advert promoting them. They only do it because hes DT and thats good for promotional perposes. See?

I think that David Tennant should be stopped from voicing adverts for Tesco. After all, impressionable young children might be swayed by his two-for-one offers or mobile phones, and then where would we be? HE SHOULD NOT BEING USING HIS MAGICAL DOCTOR POWERS TO MAKE US BUY FRUIT!

The Op probably thinks David Cameron would make a great Doctor, you know, being as he thinks he is going to save the world if he is elected PM....

No. He does it because he is a life long Labour supporter. The Labour party didn't ring up his agent and say "hey we loved him as the Tenth Doctor and we think we might win the election if he does a voice over for us. Is he free in April?"

Indeed if DT was looking for promotion he would have gone for the other side. If anything the Op should be praising him for having the courage to follow his true beliefs rather than kiss Cameron's behind like so many seem to be doing these days....

Oh Dalek, what a shame you're not the Tory leader (or are you? ) If you were Labour wouldn't need DT in their PPBs, just think how entertaining the leaders' debate would be, Gordon and Nick would be laughing!

No. None of you are getting me. He's not an MP or anything is he? Otherwise why isn;t the average Joe labour supporter allowed to voiceover adverts? Because no one knows them. Everyone knows DT and love him so they use him. If RTD is into LAbour why didn't they use him? Because he's not as famous as DT. DT is excellent publicity to make them seem better! I'm not just saying this about DT it's about all celebrities doing this. But i can't do a thread about it so a shut it down to labour so i could debate about it. Simples

No your the one not getting the point. Your singling DT out because he he is a labour supporter. If he was supporting your hero all would be well. You have given yourself away. Too late to try and pretend otherwise.

DT can do what he damn well pleases, so can all the other celebs backing other parties. It's a level playing field.

You are essentially backing the idea of repression of free speech. How very communist of you.

Maybe DT offered he services to the Labour Party as he does support them, it's well documented

I say if he wants to publicly put his support behind the Labour Party then good for him.

Yes him and many other famous actors will be wheeled out by the main parties in the next few weeks. Tennant isn't anything special. This has been going on for years.

And I think you'll find most people hearing him in the voice overs will go "was that David Tennant?" Or maybe not because if he used his own accent instead of his Doctor accent half the audience won't even know it's him!

Add in another load of viewers who recognsiing his voice will say "Oh Tennant's a Labour supporter..how disappointing"

I don't know why you're getting so worked up about this. Although I think Tennant would be quite chuffed as you've elevated his ability to influence the voting public to almost God like proportions. Maybe you should be his agent!

In Who terms, the Conservatives are the Daleks (ruthless and you know you just can't trust them even when they appear to have changed) and Labour are the Slitheen (disguised as something they aren't, generally a bit rubbish and full of flatulance). I guess in the spirit of equality I should include the LibDems who I'd say are like the Krotons (a bit like the others but a bit cheaper and not quite as good).

Love that

at the end of the day Dalek(ahem sorry David) Cameron is free to use whatever celebrity he wants to get his point across its a free country,on the other hand hosting Press Conferences at companies in the NI pact with plenty of advertising around is very dubious

I've been on this forum long enougth to know theres always an excuse.

I have a right to my own opinion

If you don't like thats your opinion. Which is your right.

Your accusing me of the same thing you are all doing. Being discriminatory to others opinions because they don't match my own. Your all doing the same! I can say i don;t like what DT is doing and you can say you don't like what i'm doing but it doesn't make me wrong. Or biggotry. It would make you exactly the same as me anyway. Your all doing the same thing. No ones wrong. Just different. Therefore they have different opinions.

Yet you would deny DT the right to his own opinion?

Thats rather hypocritical isn't it? Or did you not think that through properly?

Cameron or dalekaddison whatever you name is get off this forum, it's about DW not politics. DT's entitled to support anyone he wants to.

He has a right to an opinion. i have a right to an opinion. you have a right to an opinion. Hell, even mickey mouse has a right to an opinion. I just think - in my OPINION - they shouldn't use a household name as an advantage. It's moraly wrong.
