Marina & The Diamonds- Best album of 2010 so far IMO.
As I stated, in my opinion, But seriously of 2010, it really is.
Lady Gaga's 'the fame' was my favourite last year (still is) but of 2010 'the family jewels' has had me completely hooked. I didn't think i'd bother getting it, I heard 'I am not a robot' and listened to one or two album tracks on youtube and had to download on iTunes right away. I love 'Are you satisfied' and 'Oh no!' as well as 'hollywood'. Anyone else have this album and love it!?

This is on my "to buy" list. Downloaded Hollywood, I Am Not A Robot and Mowgli's Road recently and love all three, though.

I liked Mowgli's Road and I Am Not A Robot but I've struggled to get into the rest of it tbh. There haven't been any albums which have blown me away so far this year and there aren't any upcoming releases I'm excited for but oh well.

She's not as bad as I first thought but still quite forgetable in my opinion.
For me Vampire Weekend "Contra" or Joanna Newsom "Have One On Me" is the best album of 2010 |

This album disappointing in my opinion I disagree with you about the Gaga album, it went through me and I've made it my hobby to discredit it whenever and wherever possible. But anyway I digress, Marina's album had a trail of hype akin to Little Boots last year and it just felt slightly flat to me. I was leant the album a good week and granted it has some catchy songs but the best album of 2010 so far? It was like opening up a bottle of Coke with glee to find that it's flat and sugar free! I would say it's good to average at best.
As for best album of 2010 I would put Laura Marling, Delphic, Beach House, XX, MGMT, Courteeners, Lightspeed Champion and to some extent Ellie Goulding's albums ahead of Marina. But then again that's just my opinion! |

There's always the singles, the two fantastic album tracks then the "good, but slightly dull" tracks. I got Plan B on Tuesday, though. Every song is fantastic. Apparently it took him ages to write and he changed his style for it. Albums like his, which have time and effort put into them are always fantastic. |

I like the album. Third best album I have heard this year. Compared to newbies, she is a damn sight better then Ellie Goulding. She's quirky and honest in her lyrics.

I prefer Ellie Goulding's album to Marina's. Might be because I don't really like Marina's voice..at all..
![]() And I know it's annoying to keep comparing the two, but I only do so because they were the two big runners for the newcomer award or whatever it was. |

I agree, it's an amazing album, it hasn't got a single bad song, and has a whole host of potential singles. Easily my favourite of the year so far, along with Goldfrapp and Hot Chip.

I completely agree; I have to admit on first listening I was a little disappointed, but now I have really got into it. Almost every song is absolutely fantastic! I would also say it is my favourite of the year so far, although Diana Vickers' may provide stiff competition if 'Once' is anything to go by...

Goldfrapp's album I forgot about and Amy Macdonald I preferred these two to Marina's as well.

At first I thought it was okay, but revisited it about a week ago.
Now I can't stop playing it. Definitely best album of 2010 so far IMO

Agreed - I love it (although I'll admit the only other I have brought is Ke$ha's). There's not a single filler on there and it has songs for any emotion your feeling.

I really like 'Obsessions', Is this song about bullima or Anorexia? I've heard rumours it is and the lyrics do tell a story..

I think it's a grower. I am a big fan of Marina and was really excited to get this album, I pre-ordered it. I was both pleased and disappointed. Oh No!, Girls, Shampain and Guilty are my favourite four tracks I think. I hate Hermit the Frog but I like all the rest. I don't know if it's the best of 2010, but it's a good album.
