Leftfield...Leftism

For some unknown reason I had not played this album for years. After I heard they were reforming for some obscure festival I though I would give it a whirl.

I must say what a superb album, got the one of the best of the 90's imo

Stand out tracks for me are

Release the pressure
Afro left
Song on life
Open up
Original

Any other fans out there

One of the best albums ever made imho.

Afro Left is the highlight for me.

Yup, I love it. I had it on just yesterday. I used to always put the whole album on the jukebox in the pub on a Friday night, it flows so well you see.

It is a fantastic album, the follow up was pretty good as well.

Yeah it is fantastic. I only got it a couple of years ago myself. Think I'm going to give it a another listen now actually.

I heartily concur. I loved the Leftism album and played it constantly for about 2 years.

See what you think to my re-edit of the track. It's not a remix, but the ambient bit is shorter and the dance bit is extended and more backing vocals have been mixed in:

Leftism is a brilliant album, played it non stop back in the 90s.

And it's funny cos I was out the other week at a sort of indie/student club where a friend of mine DJs, we were chatting about some of this 90s dance stuff and I managed to persuade him to put "Open Up" on - and it went down a storm!

Had loads of people asking who it was as well, so hopefully introduced some new people to it.

I remember once buying Leftism as the video to one of their tracks was on a Playstation demo disk. In the video a bloke runs through a street and slowly loses all his limbs, the memories of 90s are quite hazy but I remember that track and video. Also Song Of Life is just so great!

Me!!!

Definitely a seminal album.

The term 'classic album' is much overused these days but it was pretty valid for this one. Barely a duff track throughout and, to a great degree, still sounds fresh today. The guest slots from Toni Halliday & John Lydon are storming.

The best thing for those who've not heard it is how cheaply you can pick a copy up - lucky so & so's !

Yep, it was Afrika Shox.

The video was released the night before I got my A-Level results, coincidently.

I always thought the voice on 'Release the pressure' sounded like the singer in Fine young cannibals

Leftism is a classic and they were really good live too.
The follow up was forgettable apart from Africa Shox and Phat Planet.
