can anyone help, i am trying to connect my pioneer freeview box to my video and tv.

i have.
a pioneer receiver (old on digital one) with TWO scarts, one says tv, the other says video.
a video recorder with one scart socket.
a tv with one scart socket.

i have been trying to connect these to eachother without success, i have to disconnect the pioneer reciever and plug in the video everytime i want to watch the video and vice versa.
what is the correct way to connect all three to eachother, i am quite good at this thing normally, but this is doing my head in, as i want to record of freeview and i cant.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

There isnt enough scart sockets. The only way is:
freeview to video recorder and freeview to tv but i dont think that would work. You could get extra scart sockets or a new video recorder with 2 scarts. I dunno though. sorry

The freevview box probably has 'loopthrough'...

If you connect the scart sockets as labelled, you should be able to get the signal from your video to pass through the freeview box and into your tv.
The freeview box may have to be on standby for this to happen.

thanks for the help guys.

i connected the scart sockets (freeview to video and freeview to tv) and now i can watch freeview through my video which is great.

but i cannot record, which is really frustrating, all i get is a load of fuzz on playback.

pulling my hair out here, as if i can watch through my video, then i should be able to tape as well.

ahh, just had an idea

Your tv should connect (using a scart wire) to the "tv scart" on the pioneer digibox.

Your Video recorder needs to connect to the pioneer digibox (socket marked vcr or video-scart) - this requires another scart wire.

So the scart path should look like......

Video - digibox - tv

Your tv aerial cable needs to first plug into the pioneer digibox (uhf in socket). Then a short aerial from the pioneer (uhf out) to the video recorders uhf in socket. Finally, another short aerial wire from the uhf out on the video to the normal aerial socket on the tv.

So the aerial path will look like......

Aerial - pioneer digital box - video recorder - tv.

You can now play tapes "through" the pioneer digital box and onto your tv (all via scart). And you can record digital tv via scart - when you set the timer on your video, you will need to change the channel number to AV or whatever it is called. And you can view live digital tv via scart as well. Your video will also be able to record regular 5 channel analogue tv direct from the aerial in the normal way - you will still need to do that from time to time if you are using the digital box to view a different channel.

thanks for the help dave, i have managed to view freeview through my video , but everytime i record freeview channels i am just getting static on playback. i will make sure i have all the wires in the order you have said, and see if that makes a difference.

thanks

That means you are not selecting the AV input, as if you had you would either get a picture or a black screen.

Some VCRs use EXT, AV. a TV screen shaped icon with an arrow pointing into it, or an icon which is a straight line with an arrow pointing to it to show this on the remote, front panel and LCD display.

Dont forget when you se the video timer, you must make sure it is set to record from the scart input (usually called AV, or LINE).
