Half stars and lots of iT temp files

I want to add half stars to my ratings. i found a couple of fixes online. But they all say to edit the iTunesPrefs.xml but doing a search for it and then manually going through iTunes folders. I didn't find a file named that. i know there are applescripts that will invoke this. Is there by chance a Windows one that will dot he same trick?

I just looked in my iTunes folder and found nearly 40 iT xx.tmp files can they safely be deleted? There are also a few Temp File x. tmp files as well. All told they take up over 1Gb of disk space.

Not quite as bad,I've got 17 iT x .tmp files and would also like to know if it's necessary to keep them. Also can the 'previous itunes library' files be safely deleted as well?

Deleting them will not cause any conflicts in iTunes, just keep the most recent one of each as they are handy to have if your computer crashes.

The hold info for things like iPod and iPhone back-ups.

If you are in any doubt then make a copy of the files and stick them on a pen-drive or burn them to a DVDr. That way you will have them if you ever need them.

I delete mine every few months or after a new version of iTunes is released.
