Seriously, as none of the originals exist? Just wondering.

I suppose it's like football teams though, Leicester City don't have all the same first team they had in 1988

If they changed their name, people would probs have more time for them.

People that say they're not the Sugababes now have no right to unless they stopped supporting them when Siobhan left, you can't bend morals to fit a situation. Sigh.

I don't see them as the Sugababes! Some people do!!

My justification is that, it was still just about manageable with one original remaining, now there isn't one...they are dead in my eyes!

The current girls are already tarnishing the legacy!

The fact is she isn't an original founding member; Siobhan is.

If it wasn't for Siobhan, Heidi wouldn't have had a group to join in the first place.

yeah they are still the sugababes

it's not like they were a real band to begin with, with a recognisable drummer, bassist, guitarist and keyboard player with their own sound and personality, or wrote a bunch of influential songs or had a pioneering sound. they were just 3 girls who fronted producer led tracks. as has been proven 3 or 4 times, you can remove any or all of them without anyone caring, and they can still keep on playing the old songs and making new hits, and doing so more successfully than other bands like the drifters or temptations that continue to play these days with little to no original members

the first album with the original members was one of the least exciting albums they made, they didn't really make it big until they started the line up changes

whilst not a fan, i think the current line up is the best, and as long as people enjoy the music they should continue to do so, so whilst there are no original members they can still hear the hits on tour and i don't think anyone would really notice or care too much that the vocals sound different, as all the plug ins in the world create the vocal sound of the band instead of natural voices. i could probably lay down a lead line for them and stick it through the software and you wouldn't know it wasn't one of the other three who sang it

You can't honestly compare a music group to a football team where the whole point is to continue the history and traditions of a club, etc.

In music you create an identity that people will remember you by or associate one with and that includes the faces of a group.

Oh and for the record, I think the soul of sugababes had died after the last original member had left.

Heidi is just as original as Siobhan
Heidi can never be an original as she was not one of the founding members.

Personally I think they should have called it a day when Mutya left - once two original members had left they were no longer the Sugababes, in my opinion. If Keisha and Heidi wanted to continue, they should have changed the name at that point, then Amelle could have joined the new group. If one original member leaves, as Siobhan did, that's not that big a deal - one original member leaving at the very beginning doesn't have as big an impact as a second leaving once they've become very successful. Once they made the decision to carry on as the Sugababes without Mutya, they became a bit of a joke in my opinion.

I know Heidi was with them for all their major successes, but she is not an original member and so I think that they should definitely change their name. They just aren't the Sugababes, and haven't been for a long time. Their music isn't music the Sugababes would have made - and I realise this aspect would have been the same even with Keisha, but like I said...I didn't consider them to be the Sugababes even before Keisha left or was kicked out or whatever.

The 'Sugababes' today aren't that bad as a girl group. I think they need to cut out the "look at us, aren't we sexy" theme to a lot of their new songs as it just makes them seem arrogant and up-themselves, but aside from that their voices are good and they seem like nice enough girls. I'm not going to lie, I've never liked Amelle particularly and her 'sexy' voice that she often puts on gets on my nerves, but generally they're all ok. With a different name, they could try to regain some respect from their old and new fans, and to be honest I don't see what they have to lose through changing their name.

they are still the Sugababes, now SHUT UP! lol
IMO their greatest work has been on the Sweet 7 album, an all round solid pop album with no fillers!
i hope they continue to do live performances as i think Jade Ewen has amazing vocals and the band still look stunning and fresh and exciting, just a shame that the album waas continually put on hold tbh as these songs on Sweet 7 are perfect anthems, just too much promotion at the wrong points of the albums lifetime.
still with more singles from the album more will be aware of how amazing some of the songs and styles explored on the album are.

NO! Even the critics slagged them off. They've got to change their name before its taken off them.

No she isn't. FACT is she isn't. But Keisha and Mutya chose her to join hence she isn't as bad as Amelle or Jade who are crap replacements.

I'm not sure what to think about the Sugababes tbh anymore
I love a lot of their old stuff, but admittedly sweet 7 is dross, even though theyve had terrible luck, with pushing it back, song leaks, an awful lead single (GS was awful) and a line up change etc
some do consider Heidi an original member though as she has certainly had far more input than Siobhan had
personally i no longer have any strong opinions one way or another on them, and am not really sure what to think

I don't really care if they're called Sugababes or Honeydolls or Syrupgirls or whatever (and to be honest I never have).

If they release a track I like I'll buy it; if they release a track I don't like I won't. I bought the first 2 (both featuring Siobhan; loved Overload from the first time I heard it). I bought maybe 50% of the mk. 2 music (Too Lost in You is, for me, the finest track released by them in this era); and almost everything mk. 3 released (About You Now is an absolute classic). I've also bought the 2 tracks released so far by mk. 4 (Wear My Kiss is a brilliant track).

I don't know whether I'll buy the next track until I hear it. I also don't see the point in getting worked up about the personnell changes if the music released is decent enough (and let's not forget that the current releases would have been mk.3 releases if they hadn't swapped Keisha for Jade).

The other girls didn't care too much when they left, seems a little rich they suddenly care about the band name now.

Seems the last original girl got her comeuppance when she was booted out, like she booted out the others before her.

The record label own the name. So, yes. Personally I see Heidi as more of a sugababe than Siobhan anyway. Sure, Siobhan is an original babe, but I think Heidi has contributed more and personally I think thats more important than being their at the start.

Honestly thought I haven't really liked them since Mutya left, I think thats when they lost their edge.

Sugababes still had two thirds of their original members left. One replacement doesn't stop them being the Sugababes, the backbone of the group was still present. Just like Destiny's Child always had Beyonce and Kelly Rowland present.

Mutya left, people started to lose interest and them BAM Keisha left and the album flops. That's the truth. They have unique and distinctive voices and gave the band their edge. Now the edge is gone, people aren't interested. They're now just 3 girls who can sing - with nothing extra special about them to draw people in.

However long Heidi has been in the band, it never makes her an original founding member, and whether it matters or not the public clearly care that there are no original members left.

They're a completely different band, using a name thought up by other people, with a catalogue of music that most of them didn't even perform. They're a joke.

If they'd changed their name and rebranded themselves, I reckon Sweet 7 might have done a lot better.
