Stolen deliveries
Might seem an odd request but has anyone had any dvd's stolen, whilst on there way via the post office lately? I've recently had 2 packages ordered from play247 which have been open and empty when they arrived at my house in the last month, and 1 cd that has failed to arrive at all. And I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem? I'm note sure of the fact that play have to put the value on the outside due to customs means they are more likely to go missing, as I've also ordered alot from amazon and hmv online without any problems, and their stuff not registered. It might be usefull if you have had anything stolen, if you could say where you live and maybe we can work out if it's a local problem or something thats going on near to jersey. Any help would be appreciated as I love play, their prices are the best but if things are constantly going missing I'm gonna have to stop using them, although they always send replacements, the idea of some scumbag at the post office with all my dvd's pisses me off

a little experience
have known a few people who work at the PO. This will be down to one individual, possibly local to you. Report it locally and they should be able to monitor it. Like you said it would help if you could find anybody else in your area with the same experience.
An ex-friend had several season tickets a collection of CDs and numerous VHS tapes when he was finally apprehended. |

When u order from Play247 the items are sent recorded delivery(u have to sign for it). If there's something wrong when u go to sign for it, like the package is empty!!, then it must be the PO's fault or play247 surely?

Yeh when they arrive empty the post office are responsible, and have to send a cheque to either me or play247. As I said it's not cost me anything, but that's not the point really, someone has still stolen it and that pisses me off! It's no different to someone burgeling your house, you get the stuff back through insurance.

I have ordered a lot of things from Play247 with no problems till now. A package was sent out from Play247 on 16th which I have still not received but have received two packages which I ordered on 19th and 21st. I am now thinking this parcel has gone missing. I see from the website that you have to wait 14 days before contacting them but want to know how quickly things are sorted out. The package is a Christmas present so I obviously need it within the next few weeks.
When you ring them do they fairly quickly send a replacement out or do they take a while to investigate the matter? Thanks for your advice. |

Wait ten days, then phone and they will send are replacement out immediatly. Also get onto the royal mail, as it took me 4 missing deliveries before royal mail started to investigate, they have told all sorting staff to give my items dirrectly to a manager. Since then none have gone missing.

Thanks rattus, my missing parcel turned up today, don't know where it had been! It is reassuring to know that Play247 will sort out any problems straightaway.

All the problems I've had with play have all been to do with the post office. Who are totally erratic in their service. For example, play post evolution to me on thursday afternoon. While they posted a couple of items to my sister on friday. I phoned her today and hers arrived this morning. Still no sign of mine
The only difference being mine come through a different sorting office than my sisters. She has never had an item go missing, I've had 4 go missing, and one pending Hopefully it has just been delayed, and might come tommorow. If not I'm gonna have to get my stuff sent to my sisters house, rediculas as that may be, as mine is just not reliable. I do however think alot of the problem comes from the way play package the item. Jiffies are too easy to open and see whats inside, particularly with the value printed on the outside. The packaging of amazon is much better, you can't peak inside one of those, once it's open thats it it can't be put back together.

Yes, I must admit it did cross my mind that the late package may have been tampered with. It was a GBA game but what struck me as being unusual was that it had no sellophane round the actual game. Still nothing was missing but it does make you wonder.

I have had some DVDs go missing that I have ordered from Play. Credit to them though for sending replacements out quickly. However, not all of there packages are sent by recorded delivery. Only about 50% of the many I've ordered have been recorded. Also, has anyone experienced problems with Reel.com when they used to send to UK? I'm still waiting for a Friends DVD that I sent for in April!!
Don't know what happened to that one, or the replacement they sent!! If I remember rightly, I think we had a local postie who was helping himself to the odd package now and again!!

As you guys have probably already noticed, it can't be play. i've ordered from them for ages, receiving packages to Devon and London without problems. Not all of their packages are sent recorded delivery. Their DVDs are but the music CDs are sent by normal post. All credit to Play though, they sort out all problems ASAP without hassle. They deserve to win some awards for their good service. In the unlikely event that your package gets stuck through customs they will even pay the fees!! It hasn't happened to me or anyone i know though!!

Yes, I have every confidence with Play247, apart from a parcel taking longer than usual I have had no problem with them. I have ordered loads of dvds/games from them now (Nikhil you should be on commission for recommending them to me!). As someone said a measure of a good company is how good their service is if something does go wrong and I think from what people have said Play247 is second to none.

My missing parcels were down to a dodgy postie!! I can' t fault Play at all, by far the best source of DVDs etc I have found so far.
