I think that these forums are probably the best bargain therapy you can get. The anonymity behind your alter ego name means that you can drop your everyday facade and be who, and what, you want to be. Being able to say what you want, discuss subjects you may not otherwise, and play devil's advocate when the notion takes you, are great freedoms, which allow you to have a wider perspective on life. The world seems a smaller place. You find that you have much more in common with people from all over the country (and the world) than you may have thought, and that wherever you do go there are always idiots to be found, in roughly the same proportion.
Whatever reasons other people have for coming here, I know that I am enriched by your company. I stand a little taller, having known you. And the petty squabbles we may have don't amount to a hill of beans, when set against the love that I feel when I enter this chatroom. (I'm welling up now).
