I live in America and so I haven't really been exposed to either of these series before. All I know is that this is where many of my favorite creators got their start.

I recently signed up for Previews, which lets us Yanks order either series on a monthly basis. I guess it would be one issue of JD or 4 issues of 2000AD. The prices are pretty steep especially for 2000AD, but I assume it's probably worth it.

So my question is do any of you Brits read these and could/would you recommend one over the other?

These comics are in fact anthogolies in that both feature several ongoing series. I've read both of them for many years but if I were you I'd start with 2000AD as the Judge Dredd Megazine always has a lot of reprint material in it

True, but the main Dredd storyline is in 2000AD

thanks for the info. I actually just ordered the upcoming JD (#300, 400?). I don't mind reading reprints, especially since so many creators I admire used to write/draw for them.

I realize Dredd is in both, but there are other non-JD stories in both as well, right?
