daleks only a one parter
PJ68

seems odd to redesign them and only use them once in the series. the scope of the episode seems big too - ww2, nazis etc - especially as the daleks have always been likened to nazis (terry nation based them on them). shame its not going to be a 2 parter.

btw the guardian guide said tonights episode is the first absolute classic of matt smith's era, and that the show is now miles ahead of where it has been so far. they're usually right with their reviews too.

can't wait!

I wouldn't necessarily assume they're only in this one story...

This. Doomsday brought them back for two series, for example.

Could just be the new brand of Daleks, they escape and arew in future series. Hopefully not the next one, the Daleks need a break.

do you think they're in the finale too? i know people moan but as long as the stories are good, i don't think it really matters

I think it's a distinct possibility.

Spoiler
According to the cast list on IMDB, Nick Briggs and Dalek operator Barnaby Edwards are both in the finale

According to some of the Sunday papers last week, they are indeed back for the finale

Spoiler
Wasn't sure which parts of this comment would need to be spoiler-fied so I just did the whole lot- from the synopsis by Moffatt from the finale, this whole Pandorica thing suggests that a whole array of enemies will be emerging but I don't think they will be persistent in the finale. I suspect that the cyberman and possibly the daleks will have a limited appearance in the series finale and that the Big Bad of the series will turn out to be something else

The big bad is a nameless, terrible thing, soaked in the blood of whole galaxies. The most feared thing in the cosmos.

Matt Smith vs the Daleks. And no David Tennant and his over-the-top acting.

Happy days are here again.

I agree - I don't think the Daleks have been overused - they always still give me a chill when they show up. The only time they've suffered is when they've been a little too easily, frivolously dispatched, like at the climax of Journey's End, for example. Even in that two parter they were brilliant up till then!

i try to erase any memories of the dalek stories from series 2 onwards! they were simply crap, just my opinion ovcourse! so i dont mind the daleks being used as much as possible from now on, as i have hopes that maybe tonight, and in the future, we will be getting some decent dalek storylines!

How terribly repetetive...

...as for the 45 minute episode tonight: it's always a testament to the Writer whether they can produce a taut, exciting and well-paced story in the time...sometimes (as was ably demonstrated in Classic Who) the more time to fill, the flabbier and less engaging stories become...it's similar to budget constraints: less money can promote creativity.

Moffart indicated in his US interview that the series finale is going to be humungous!

It needs to be, how can he top Journey's End and End of Time?

By not having a big reset button....and finally resolve something than leave it there knowing they'll return. The big bad has to be different and the story ends at the end of the show rather than dragging on.
