They've done it before, in Power of the Daleks and in the audio story Time of the Daleks. At least one line from tonight's episode is almost a direct steal from Power of the Daleks.

It's funny seeing the Daleks like this, something that isn't normal. "Friends". Looking forward to it....although I'm not diggin green Daleks...

I am! I was never sure about golden Daleks, but I think that khaki really brings out the best in Matt Savage's design (which is an awful shame/ coincidence, considering... )

From the Mark Gatiss interview, I think he went out of his way to pay homage to said story.
