Cracks in the Universe - Theory Discussion
Ok - So this is the 3rd/4th "Crack in the universe" we've seen (Not sure if I've missed one or more), so any ideas on what they are?
My theory is that it could be something to do with the Daleks. Perhaps, in order to keep their timeline (where they escape the Doctor as seen in Victory of the Daleks), they need Amy to meet the Doctor. Amy was the one who saved the dalek-human scientist by discussing his girlfriend (terrible name though - Dorabella), and I figure if the Daleks had detonated him, the Doctor would retaliate back. I was guessing they infiltrate Amy's timeline in order to assure that she is present at the Victory of the Daleks episode timeline. Probably some holes in that theory, but it's what I've come up with so far. Also, we were told that "Prisoner 0 has a stick" in the first episode. This could just have been what disguise Prisoner 0 had at the time, but I'm wondering if it has some other meaning that relates to the cracks in the universe themselves. Can't see a discussion thread on it, so I thought I'd start it. Feel free to pick holes in the theory (or support it), and/or offer your theories. |

i reckon the doctor has caused these cracks. In EH we were told that Prisoner Zero knew how the cracks were caused and it then went on to mock the doctor that he didnt.
hmm. maybe his last regeneration has something to do with it. Or, more likely Leadworth has something to do with it |

eh? Surely it was 'Prisoner Zero has escaped'? A Cape = AC Pea AC Pea wrote The Complete Encyclopedia of Haddock. As everyone knows the Haddock is related to Cod. Cod, sounds a bit like God. God is Dog backwards. It's all becoming clear.... |

I didn't think it was "escaped" - I thought it was something like "a stick" or "a _____" something..

one has to remember the crack was on Amy's wall 'before' the Doctor even arrived, so it seem's it following her and not being created by the TARDIS ... how it got there in the first place I've no idea

I still think it's down to Ten's actions in the Waters of Mars, he flouted the rules of time itself. There hasnt been enough come back on that yet in my opinion.

I reckon the Prisoner they caught was a child of the real Prisoner 0, and that's why it was crap at Multiforming. The real 0 kidnapped Amy when she ran into the room, and is travelling with the Doctor. The crack is 0's link back to the prison and is following it around.
6 will then wake up in the desert, and be taken back to meet 2 in the village... hang on... |

Did the Doctor not refer to it as a crack in the 'skin' of the universe? Could be something be smashing its way in from the outside?
Is it significant that all the cracks are the same shape? Is it one crack, running through many different points in time and space? |

I think the cracks are to do with Amy. She said "why me?" in the TARDIS, the Doctor looked at the screen which showed the crack then switched it off. I think that time is splintered in Leadworth. I think that the hospital is in the nineties, but the people live in a later time where mobile phones are more common. It could explain why Amy didn't know about the Dalek's if the village is outside of time somehow.

It's probably 10's meddling, which has caused a crack in time or something like that. This led to Prisoner Zero to escape, so why can't others escape? |

Would be helpful to know if it's just her or everybody who does not remember the Daleks.

This connects with "Pete's World" being further advanced with technology than Rose's World. And we know the cybermen are returning, could it be something to do with them?
Perhaps space and time is collapsing. On a side note Pete World was way advanced, well ahead of "our" world, and as far as I can tell only had knowlege of the Cybermen not the Daleks (Although the Cybus Cybermen from Pete's World did know who the Daleks were). A wild guess is that 11 and Amy are in "Pete's World" and the cracks are to do with both universe's merging. |

Considering 10s reluctance to take a companion toward the end, 11 seemed very keen to take Amy with him. I think that the Doctor knows that Amy is a key. I too think it was the Doctor that has caused the crack, but not sure how yet!

Maybe Leadworth isn't fixed in time.... I assumed that when the Doctor told Amy he would be back in 20 minutes (or however long it was in TEH) but actually jumped several years that it was the TARDIS that was at fault ... but what if the TARDIS did only travel only a few minutes into the future but in Leadworth this was years- maybe something to do with the crack in time causing Leadworth to skip in time. Would expline how TARDIS got the timing wrong twice within the same episode.

As far as I'm aware both the original Cybermen AND the Cybus Cybermen are returning later in the series.
