Emilie
Did anyone else think Emilie came across as incredibley big-headed tonight?
On her VT where she was saying the panel were wrong when they said she had issues with her singing completely disregarding the advice they had given her. Then IMO she went on to give a completely wooden & emotionless rendition of Moon River. Her arrogance has completly put me off her. It would be one thing to say that then go to give an outstanding performance but she gave the performance with an emotional range & understanding of a tea spoon. |

I must agree.
Some of her comments today were very arrogant! Arrogance of youth? |

I would have thought with what Charlotte said last week about Lauren coming across arrogant, that all the girls would have been more carefull on what they say in their interviews.
To me Lauren didn't seem to mean to be bigheaded it just came out wrong. Emilie didn't seem to have any humilty or modesty about her abilties tonight both me & the boyfriends mother think she will be in the bottom 2 tomorrow. |

Her comment in the America VT was odd as well ... just 'I'm going to steal the show' but not is a jokey way in a deadly serious way!
I'm not a fan of Emilie, I think she's one of the weaker contenders and I don't warm to her personality either, but I do think in terms of the VT's they are just one big propaganda stunt to highlight whoever the flavours of the week are .... ... we don't know what else Emilie said that was left out and we don't know what questions she was asked to get those soundbites ... ie continual questioning about what the panel said will eventually lead her to say something that can be construed as arrogant..... |

I have my own theory on Emilie so for what it's worth I'll share it with you guys
.I think they're pretty much trying to get her into the bottom two in order to get her out as soon as they can. She wasn't in top 10 and of all the wildcards she most likely wasn't a preferred choice, so last week they gave her a pretty rubbish song in the hope that the audience wouldn't vote. The Lauren was in the bottom two after coming across as really arrogant. So this week they show a VT of her pretty arrogant in the hope that she'll be in the bottom two. |

Disregarding her comments though I still believe her performance was awful & I think any of the other girls could have given it the extra depth & understanding it required. She is definitley the weakest contender & ALW was right when he said she couldn't cope with 8 performances a week. |

Editors can do alot with a few bits of VT and turn it around to suit . Altough Emilie did herself no favours by not agreeing with the negativity .It did come across very badly for her I thought Also her interpretation of Moon River was bizzare |

I think perhaps that she is just getting frustrated, I think it proves she isn't able to handle critisism very well. And therefor makes up exuses. Yes we know you can sing, but are you a good singer, that's the point.

Absolutely .... and again I don't like her, but in her defence how much of that daft interpretation and choreography was down to the choreographer and musical directors ... I mean if she's told she has to perform it in such a way with a dance partner then she's going to have to interpret it in that way ... I wonder how much of the interpretation is left to the girls? Very little I imagine.

Absolutely - which is why I think the ALW's criticism of Dani's lack of dance movement was unfair - she didn't choreograph her own number.
Shelia bangs on about performance and interpretation but I really think they are told how to do it a lot of the time ... I guess they have control over their facial expressions! |

I actually thought she was a bit better vocally this week - her actual tone and tuning aren't that bad it's the timing that still seems way off and makes her sound quite disjointed. But probably because she was a bit better it's probably even more time to go. She improved, but was still clearly the weak link = bye.
She's confusing in terms of persona. Always in floods of tears when someone else leaves/after bad comments tonight etc and her confidence seeming quite fragile, then very arrogant and hard to warm to on VTs. |

I'm sure she's a lovely girl and all that (although she showed a huge lack of self-awareness in not understanding the criticisms from the judges) but I have to say I just don't understand why people are voting for her.

I know ... it's a bit fake really ... this week is supposed to be about dance, yet half the girls had slow songs ... Steph didn't move either except to the chair! And even if they wanted to it's all heavily planned out for them.
Shelia bangs on about performance and interpretation but I really think they are told how to do it a lot of the time ... [b]I guess they have control over their facial expressions![/ So when they bang on about movement - they're talking about facial expression - unless of course a lift of the eyebrow, a wink or a knowing smile are part of the choreography. ![]()
