yeh but she doesn't have to say those things does she. she must have some self awareness, and understand that perhaps saying I'm soooooo good, won't benifit her. Crying and saying she knows she can do better is a safe bet. She acted spoiled, that's all there is too it. But I admired her for keeping her cool infront of the judges.

I know ... it's a bit fake really ... this week is supposed to be about dance, yet half the girls had slow songs ... Steph didn't move either except to the chair! And even if they wanted to it's all heavily planned out for them.
Shelia bangs on about performance and interpretation but I really think they are told how to do it a lot of the time ... I guess they have control over their facial expressions! So when they bang on about movement - they're talking about facial expression - unless of course a lift of the eyebrow, a wink or a knowing smile are part of the choreography. |

True, but I do agree with Bel110 that they are most likely asked some very leading questions. Although I imagine they were rubbing their hands with glee when those words came out of her mouth

She's been like this for a couple of weeks now, talking herself up. Comes accross as deeply unlikeable to me.

Yes, ones duty is to try and think what you might look like on tv saying those things. I suppose she's not being a fake, got to give her credit for that. And I suppose you have to have a lot of confidence in your singing ability in this profesion especialy, and to have it critisized would anger you up just a tad. But admitting her weeknesses will help her become a better performer if you ask me.
I'm all for encouraging people to go for their dreams, but her friends would serve her better if they were to salt their support with a little healthy and constructive criticism. Compare and contrast Sophie's attitude. She is not a favourite of mine, as I think she lacks the ability to front a show, but she showed guts in taking on board John Partridge's criticism of her and doing a much better performance tonight as a result of listening and learning. |

Well, there's confidence and then there's delusion - as anybody who has ever watched the audition rounds of The X Factor can attest. Presumably she's had an opportunity to watch herself back, so I'm afraid it does show a lack of self-awareness if she truly believes the judges are wrong.

I think Emile should sing a song from Charlie and the chocolate factory. Can you guess which one.

Emilie did loads better tonight. But like people have said, she was still the weakest. It was awkward how she said she was annoyed at the comments because she's "trained and can sing" because she may be very well trained, but what matters is delivering on the night.
I think she actually needs to go tomorrow for her own good, I wouldn't like her to be crushed because of this. The longer she stays in the worse the backlash will get and she's so young, it would be better for her to get voted out and get some more training. I reckon they are manipulated in the VTs, but she should have been more careful! I would be heartbroken if anyone else went out tonight, because I honestly loved all the other girls performances. |

I thought she came across as quite arrogant too maybe if she'd then come out and done a fantastic performance it would not be so bad but it was nothing special!
Also I didn't like what she said last week about Dannielle I mean fair enough they all had to pck someone so that's not my problem but when she said she's only showed one side to her performance well I've only seen one side to her performance and that's mediocre... |

I was very surprised by Emilie's comment before America about how she was going to own the stage. As the OP said, after Lauren's near escape last week, you'd think they'd be very much on their guard about coming across as arrogant. And I do suspect she's going to pay the price. Quote:

I've found two Emilie voters and they voted around 100 votes each last night, they have voted for every week.
1- they feel she looks like Dorothy ie young 2- ALW doesn't want her (they were Jodie voters last time) 3- ALW says she won't be able to do 8 shows a week, well Connie Fisher couldn't when faced with it and many leading ladies don't do all 8 shows a week anyway and those that do only have short contracts. 4- they love MT and are fed up with some of the leading ladies that have been foisted on them because they are celebs. 5- ALW sits there like a letch I don't vote not since ADWD but I think my two friends may be a few of many. |

Emilie just has one of those lively personalities where she unfortunately lets everyone know what she is thinking. I did like her song last night and she sang it quite well, perhaps she could have put a little more emotion into it though. All the same at least she looks happy and is memorable.
I think ALW is right in that Emilie probably won't have staying power if she got the part. |

She is just a young kid, leave her alone FGS . Do you not think that people all over the country in living rooms and pubs etc are not discussing their favourites and pulling apart the performances they didn't like ( on this and any show )? .... Actually I think this thread has been quite polite ... the critism is valid and most people are putting Emilies negative aspects down to naivety. Quote:
I agree. It wasn't just her comments last night, which were a touch arrogant; she was the only person last week to make a negative comment about another Dorothy. The other contestants all gave diplomatic reasons like "because she's already been in the bottom two" but Emily just came right out and criticised Danielle's performance.
Perhaps she's just very unknowing and naive? |

Emilie is the weakest one and this may account for her arrogance - if you see what I mean, she may be compensating. However, she did come across as arrogant - just because you haev singing lessons it doesn't mean you can song well enough for a WE show!!! Also i think CC knows a bit more about singing than she does. her claim to steal the show in the America number was bizarre - she was very poor, and almost sleepwalked through some of it. I really don't know how that statement could have been manipulated - she said what she said. Either she is completemy unaware that some of the others are fantastic dancers and performers, or sheis completely self deluded.
Whatever the case i expect The Lord is having a few sleepless nights

This is my first post on digital spy.
I'll admit it,or should I say half admit it.I am an Emilie Lover(in the figurative sense,of course).I did'nt actually vote for her,in fact I did'nt vote for any of the girls.Although I love watching these Andrew Lloyd Webberthons,I usually can't be bothered. Which may seem odd given that I am taking the time out to defend young Emilie. To be honest I'm not sure why I like her.Its an emotional, instinctive allegiance I suppose. An undeniable pressure to support and vanquish any argument that attempts to belittle her. I never felt like this about any of the previous Maria's,Joseph's or Nancy's.I will admit I thought Jodie was the wrong Nancy, but that was about as stern as my thoughts went. Is it to do with Emilie being the underdog. You know brought back, saved by the Public, rejected by the judges....maybe that's part of it. Whatever the reason,I can't deny she is my favourite, and somehow I have to try and articulate my discriminating choice for Dorothy. Emilie is talented. Not exactly a brilliant revelation, but it does no harm to highlight the fact. Some have said her performances have been poor.In what sense poor.I listened again to her rendition of Moon River. To be honest it seemed perfectly satisfactory. Now as a real supporter I should be saying quiet, delicate and engaging.Revealing the underlying meaning of the lyrics. Oh I just have. Moon River,a timeless song about the delicate balance between love, desire and destiny. It is a self reflective and self absorbed song,so why the hell did they stick a bloke on her lap.Perhaps there is a plot to ensure she makes a suitabley early exit. But contrary to that belief was'nt it ALW who said she moved well (I take that to mean she is a good dancer),and did'nt Sheila Hancock say last week she was staggered (in the positive sense) by her acting. Look, all of these girls are young, fresh and innocent. When they appear its like a breath of fresh air.Listening to them is an uplifting experience.I have'nt had a single ache in my loins for any of them.No not even Emilie,I promise. However if the unthinkable should happen, then I shall be forced to bring on a sub. And if Lauren should take an early bath ( I nearly said shower) I really don't mind who wins. |
