In both the competition and the future.

Human beings perceive, judge and experience events and performers in different ways. For example, you think Emilie is extremely mediocre,I fervently dis-agree.However your statement about the critics ripping Emilie, to pieces,if she wins is wilful unbridled speculation.
But I understand how you might feel,as I thought the choice of Nancy was totally wrong in every respect.Lumbering, heavy and unsubtle all seem to be suitable adjectives, not very kind I know given that Jodie is actually quite warm and pleasant .When she sang for the very last time a few weeks ago,I genuinely thought it was not good, and this simply confirmed my original impression.
Oh get real. The critics won't like her.

If you think she's got a great voice, there really must be something wrong with your hearing. out of tune half the time and struggles on the lower notes, like nothing on earth, yeh thats not mediorce. That's world class material . I just can't agree. I understand that you see something in her. But I've heard Cheryle cole sing better live.

Jodie had a very good voice. not outstanding, but powerful. I didn't want her to win. But had no problems with her talent. She had it.

I would be sad to see Emilie go out of the competition but I really hope that she is picked up soon for another role. She is bright and bubbly and every bit a very good singer and dancer with a lot of personality.

We are all critics, and we can make up our own mind. Please don't fall back on the argument about how apparently the critics did'nt or won't like her.Its a bit stale.Given true endeavour and ameasure of talent, anyone suited for a part can be groomed to stardom.

Have I ever mentioned Emilie is a great singer,or world class material.Let's be clear you don't need to be a great singer. All of these girl's talents are questionable, but one of them will be Dorothy, and by god they are going to string you out in order to find out who it is.The Wizard of OZ is hardly a famous stage musical.Would it have been put on without massive publicity generated by OTR.Very Unlikely.

OTR is like all other TV Reality shows.Designed to create a market and exploit it.We even have Danielle's Mum believing her Daughter is a star in the making.

Now I've got to carry on watching in the hope of seeing her going base over apex. But is that my fault? We've all been set up.We are all susceptible to the less admirable facets of our personality. If I can't back the winner, then I'll sustain my interest by taking pleasure in seeing her fall flat on her backside.

As for Emilie she looks more like a victim now than anything else.Like all of us, set up,unable to handle the vitriolic criticism that was aimed at her.
But what the hell, it makes for great television.

Boy, you really have it in for Danielle, don't you? Her mother thinks she will be a star and, somehow, you think that's as a result of some kind of manipulation by a reality TV show. If you believe that, maybe you just have it in for mothers...

No she did'nt say she thinks she be a star. She said she is a star in the making.Something much more specific.

Even though I am not a fan of the Chairman of the Danielle Hope appreciation society, even he thinks the show is heavily manipulated to ensure a specific outcome.

And if its manipulated to that end,you can be sure they'll get as much mileage out of every opportunity to exploit the also rans along the route to the finish line. Now we hear Lauren was deaf.See what I mean?

I'm not really sure what your point is, but whatever.

And that was Danielle's nanna who said she was a star in the making.

And yes you are pretty strange, actualy wanting some poor girl to make a fool of herself. she won't though, so

No, I actualy think she's talented and right for Dorithy. If you don't think so, then that's up to you. But stop trying to pretend that Emilie is given a much worse deal. She has her wildcard aspect after all. it's her voice that's the main problem, not the songs she's given.

I think the point that you are missing is that some of them are waaaaaay more questionable than others. To my mind, Emilie is the only one missing the key thing I am looking for when I go to see musical theatre - the ability to sing in tune. The other girls may not look the part so well, or may not be such a good dancer, but these are secondary concerns for me.

It was her Grandmother who said that much the same as Sheila Hancock has said the same thing more than once.

And anyway what's wrong with her taking pride in her grandchild and talking her up?, most grandparents do.

I think that's it in a nutshell for me.

Every week I watch the show and hope every single Dorothy pulls it out of the bag - I want to be thrilled!

Some have done it more than once, some have done it just the once and some managed a glimmer or two during a performance. For me Emile hasn't managed it at all yet.

That's not to say with more training she won't get a lot better and she could be a diamond in the rough, but now is not her time. If she wins this show, I'd worry a lot about her being able to step up to the mark in the West End.

It is filmed live on the Saturday night after the voting closes and broadcast on a Sunday night i.e. the same audience sits through the main show and the results show on a Saturday night.

I hope she isn't. She apparetly has a place at a very good drama school to study musical theatre, and that is where she should go. There is a reason they have these courses, to train people with talent and potentiallike Emilie. To try to propel her onto the West End stage at this stage in her life would be cruel anddoomed to failure IMO. She may well go far in the future when her skills have been developed. But she should not attampt to do this while in a professional show.

Oh now hearing Luaren was once deaf is suppossed to make me pick up the phone and vote. And also, becuase nan was wheeled out I'm supposed to like Danielle more, becuase her granny thinks she's a star.

.
Absolutely ... Lauren's VT last night had symphathy vote written all over it .. I thought it was quite sneaky of them to keep it till mid series!

I am still trying to figure this out .A deafness that starts at one , leading to hearing aids, then goes away again at seventeen .,
Anyone have a clue about this ,I have never heard anyone ditching hearing aids like that
Glue ear came to mind , but you dont need aids for that , just grommets.

Isn't hearing like sight in that it is constantly changing, improving/worsening?

It's just what's done on these shows, make people seem as hard done by as possible. or like a good wholesome girl.

But to be honest I don't really think it matters. Emilie has to go.

And I don't how many medical problems Lauren has had in the past it wouldn't make me like her, any more or any less.

As someone who has been very critical of Emilie's tuning issues, I thought she handled her departure well in the end. It wasn't a great performance from her on Saturday but she more than held her own in the sing off and despite the occassional miss in the "Over the Rainbow" she didn't embarrass herself by any means.

Looks like the extent of the audience support for her had been exaggerated all along and she was in the mix as much as the other girls. Not sure what we were all getting so worked up about

so all the best Emilie, you just weren't ready for the big stage this time around but don't give up yet. No hard feelings

It felt sad in a way to see her go. Emilie was never as bad as some made her; she has quite a nice singing voice really. But I honestly don't think she was in the same class as the other girls. It was time for her to go.

I just realized her last name is Fleming.... Flemilie Sorry

At least she had the dignity to hold her head up high and carry on after that miss on the last note of Over The Rainbow. That's true professionalism. She has potential, it's good that she's going to an MT course so that they can work with that potential and turn her into an all-rounder triple threat.

I'm not sad to see her go. It was past her time. maybe now w can get some sanity back into discussions. Neither the people who said Emilie couldn't sing in tune nor those who in her defence seemed willing to ignore the obvious flaws in her technique (particularly in the lower notes) seemed to be living in the real world. (IMO)

Hello, Emilie, and welcome to the forums!

Seriously though, Emilie is a lovely girl, but just not Dorothy.

Emilie is just starting her final year at Guildford Scool of Acting.

There's a youtube of her singing recently as part of a duet.
