Amy (and not the Dr) appears to be saving the day in every episode so far (early days i know) - any thoughts?

is it just setting the companion as more than just a sidekick but someone who is needed by the Dr..

or is it something deeper - is she like doctor/donna or another timelord etc etc...

Could she be related to Donna?
