With the NOTW, 'a senior BBC insider' could be a senior car park attendant.

There are a lot of stupid ideas in it, which even the BBC would be unlikely to hold.

Newspapers like to hype up a battle with X-Factor, but Strictly will always lose that battle, so the clever approach is to maximise Strictly viewers. The only way to do that is to recognise Strictly for what it is and what makes it a success and make that as good as it can be.

The BBC made some good changes last year and some bad. They need to correct the bad ones and make more good ones. There's plenty of good advice on here - if the BBC can filter it out.

I dont this the story is completely true but I do think its partly true and I definately think that Anton and Erin wont be in the next series. I would be suprised if Darren and Lilia were dropped they may have done their own show but they have also done every strictly tour and doing the pro tour.

They're not doing the pro tour - I think they have their own tour coming up

Absolutely right. The BBC needs to learn to love the Strictly audience instead of enviously looking over at X Factor's viewers and trying to woo them too.

This would be the beginning of the end of Strictly. Take something that's popular and start messing around with it is a sure way to lose the respect of those who were watching it already and if they turn off, then what ?...

As much as I love Anton, he has no place on on the show anymore. He's only really suited to steering an older contestant through the initial ballroom dances and adding ab it of old style glamor before the inevitable latin round when his limitations are obvious. He *is* very much part of Strictly, but he's my main tip for presenting the show instead of Bruce. That's his ideal venue.

I would on the other hand, be outraged if Darren, Lilia or Ian were forced out. Erin I can understand wanting to start a family and move on and as Anton's partner would be a good tip for co-presenting instead of Tess, but Lilia in particular is absolutely BELOVED by the public, that would be a major, major mistake if they didn't have them back. HUGE.

This is the reason i found the statement of 'more popular personalities will go' very strange indeed, makes no sense at all.

Hmmm...On the one hand you have the pro dancers who have worked their asses off producing excellent dancers from the most unlikely candidates AND found time to come up with some great pro routines AND shown more personality and class than the rest of the cast put together...

...and on the other hand you have a presenter who can't read the autocue and when he does you wished he hadn't, a co-presenter who could witter for England and a panel of 'judges' with an average mental age of 6.

I think I'd personally do something about the second group long before I started waving the axe at the first

Sorry yes your right but they have done all the pro/celeb tours which neither Anton or Brendan has ....I still would be suprised if they were binned but you never know ofcourse.

The general idea is to replace some of the current pros with younger pros "to introduce more vitality to the show". Who goes and who stays is still very much on the cards, but I would be extremely surprised to see Anton & Erin next time round, and/or possibly Lilia & Darren.

Brendan, Matthew and Ian, along with Brian & Kristina, are the best dancers, so hopefully they will stay; however if it really "vitality" they are after perhaps, as much as he's definitely the best dancer, Matt should also look out !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wh not start emailing the producer Moira Ross - saying what the fans will and will no tolerate. She has to be told what matters is what WE want and not what she wants.

Well she would say that.
Wouldn't she?

What I mean is that WE call the shots - not Ms Ross. Come on let's get the emails started

I want Lilia, Darren, Ian and Erin back. Not bothered about Natalie.

Let's make it clear what we want - there's facebook as well- there are all manner of ways we can do something to make it clear she can't have her way

Me too ... I've loved D&L since they joined. Would totally ruin the show if they got kicked off.

This isnt a wise move imo ... getting rid of the parts that we like instead of focusing on the bits that need help!.

If it ends up like DWTS I will seriously consider switching off!!!

I guess that Lilia and Darren are unfortunate that they haven't had good partnerships recently. It's easy to forget Jill Halfpenny and Darren Gough. However, I'm not necessarily against replacing some of the pros (including Lilia or Darren), although I think it is more important to get good celebs. I would personally be sorry to see Ian go, as is being suggested by the article, simply because I particularly love watching him dance. Matthew should keep his place based on his superb dancing and looks (he does have a nice personality, but I agree with Kaycee that it is probably a bit low key for the SCD producers). I hope Brendan stays.

I think there is a risk with going for replacements, since it isn't obvious what ones will register well with the viewers. I personally haven't taken to the most of the dancers that have come on board in the last few series, but that might be down to the partnerships they've had which haven't really gelled (except of course Brian and Ali).

Er... actually I think Moira Ross does call the shots. She might be making ridiculous decisions, but it's her job to decide what direction the show goes in. She really isn't going to be bothered what dedicated fans think... the reality is a lot of the general public won't have heard of any of the pros and won't even notice till the series starts rolling out and they realise all the annoying ones have been left in.

Even if you complain, all you will get is a standard 'no decisions have been made about the new series' reply.

I think there is a misunderstanding on the part of the ignorant NOTW. When the BBC was advertising for 10 dancers it was actually meaning professionals who are ten dancers as opposed to just ballroom or latin specialists, not ten dancers as in the number 10.

Still dont think they need them though there are pleanty over here without shipping them in from across the waves.

i love the new broom theory - i'm obviously sorry for those who will obviously lose the security of the job but i think the producers were wrong in getting the same dancers year after year anyway.

i also think it will get fresh viewers in and that's what its all about.

Why would getting new dancers in attract fresh viewers? They are going to be strangers to anyone who doesn't follow ballroom dancing. With a clean sweep approach they might attract a few new viewers but they are much more likely to alienate their core loyal viewers.

Strictly has been around long enough now that anyone attracted to the idea of ballroom dancing will already be watching. The only way to attract new viewers is with the celebrities they choose and if they want to glam the show up their only option imo is to get rid of Bruce.

This is the third thread in so many weeks to come up with a variation on the theme of a pro clear out....

It all stems from a misunderstanding of the advert asking for "10 dancers" which meant one or more dancers proficient in 10 dances opposed to 10 dancers being looked for to replace 10 of the current SCD pros.

Its way too early to be fretting about personal favourites not being asked back.

The last thread to cover this ........

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s....php?t=1239852

The Sun and NOTW are just following it on one from another making it up as they go along........no decisions about pro contracts are usually made until June/July.

That makes no sense at all - anyone who likes the idea of the show (a dancing contest with celebrities) will already be watching and will be the ones who bother to look at a story about it in the media. New viewers won't have a clue which pros are new and which aren't, so a change of pros is hardly a way of attracting new viewers....

Coz whoever started the FB group used the pro tour publicity photo and of course no D and L on the pro tour.

I think its slightly misrepresentative for anyone who isnt aware of the situation. Seeing that supposedly 7 of those 10 are the safe pros, its misleading...

This "petition" seems to be springing up everywhere

Its misleading because if you sign you're signing to support ALL the SCD current pros ( no matter what picture is used ) and even though a lot of us on here don't agree with a mass clear out ( not even proven to be true and blown up by the papers after a misleading advert) the majority say that at least one/a few changes need to be made.

Need to be careful its not a way of gaining support for one particular couple under the guise of supporting the pros as a collective group..
