Almost certainly. Why don't the Beeb ever get it? Instead of fixing the glaring obvious problems they completely ignore them just do what they want. All SCD needs is a few tweaks, not wholesale changes. Plus they have to get over this competing with the X Factor and trying to attract a younger audience obsession. Strictly is what it is and the audience will watch accordingly.

Having said that, the NOTW is the Sun's 'sister paper' so should be taken just as seriously (or not as the case may be). Mind you, it also wouldn't surprise me if this 'story' was leaked just to coincide with the start of BGT as another poster suggested.

SCD must be their most popular programme so I also don't get this obsession with trying to beat ITV

"There's a lot of pressure for it to be completely relaunched. We lost the battle with The X Factor last year. That means changes have to be made and some very popular personalities from the show will go."

Who is exerting all this so called pressure for major changes, no one I bet but the suits at the BBC. SCD has an audience that covers all age ranges and if I was BBC exec I would be delighted with such an audience.
I agree that some of the Pros that have been there the longest should be replaced only in the interests of fairness and to give other Pros this wonderful opportunity of showcasing their talents to a wider audience. It needs only be 2 or 3 Pros at the most as I fully understand and so should the BBC that the Pros have developed many loyal followers and people like Darren, Lilia, Matthew,Ian are integral to the success of the show.

I mean they brought him Alesha Dixon last year to boost figures and all she did was anger and alienate most especially judging by the BBC's own forum.
If they go ahead with this cull I can see them not boosting their figures but losing out even more to Xfactor.

Erin also referred to the article on twitter saying "interesting read in the Sunday papers!!"

I think Darren and Lailia have had their day, but really what the beeb need to concentrate on is getting better contestants, last years was very poor and I LOVE SCD, I went to see the tour and it was fabulous as Craig would say.

I was so disapointed with the show last year and as for Chris winning that was bad enough, but when you put him up agains the other previous winners it showed how poor the standard actually was

Yes I think it was completely clear from last series that Laila should never dance on Strictly again.

Lilia on the other hand...

Anton sometimes had a peculiar look last series and was short on wit and vigour. I think his illness in the middle of last year was worse than most people realise, or he was stretching himself too thin. I know that his relative inadequacy in Latin is part of its amusing appeal, but I really think he should have done something about it...

I guess that depends if she meant that in a jokey way or not Hopefully she did.

Hmm I think that I'd be a bit cheesed off if I was Darren and Lilia tbh.

I don't think she'd mention it if she didn't mean it in a jokey way

I don't belive anything that the news of the world says anyway. Unless it has a source.

The Guardian website said that Hole in the Wall had been cancelled, so it does look as though the BBC is washing its hands of poor Anton.

It wouldn't surprise me if Anton was off'd. His dancing leaves alot to be desired in my opinion. It wouldn't surprise me if Erin didn't also leave if Anton is not there - which is a shame as I think she is one of the best choreographers and least selfish pro dancer we have. I could live without Natalie (Selfish and dull) and Aliona and Katya, none of them floated my boat.

I will cry if they get rid of Mathew.

I would however take this article with a pinch of salt. SCD needs tweaks but it has less to do with the pro dancers and more to do with lack of decent celebs, Alesha, and tedious Bruce Forsyth. Deal with those latter three and they will have a much better show imho,

Let's make it clear what we want - there's facebook as well- there are all manner of ways we can do something to make it clear she can't have her way”

Viewers call the shots .... if only !!!

And although you might want Lilia, Darren, Ian and Erin back, not everyone would agree ... Ian being the exception though, as he is a great dancer and teacher.

No-one will agree on any of the pros. I'd say Lilia is as much of an exception as Ian though- she's widely acknowledged to be one of the best choreographers and teachers on the show. She's also a very popular personality.

Darren and Erin are a bit iffier, but I'd be quite happy to see them both back.

Imo Darren is one of the best teachers on the show. He's never gone out week one even with the old duffers like Gloria and Lynda he's been lumbered with !

Just to clarify, I don't think Darren is iffy! I just think he's probably less popular than Lilia or Ian at the moment. But I think he's great
