In my spare room for the last two years I have had a "Bush 34BKD 3472NTX" TV that conked out on me.... The thing is I think there can't be a lot wrong with it... It's not dead, when I switch it on the standby light just flashes but no picture or sound. It went without any sort of warning, just switched it on one day... and... nothing.
So do any of you technical bods have any clues to whats wrong with it? Is it worth getting it fixed so I can sell it and get it out of my way...

Sounds like a power supply problem /internal fuse?

Can't tell until the back is off.

DISCONNECT FROM MAINS, get the back off, look at the components near where the power lead enters the case for glass fuses carefully extract these and see if the centre filament is complete, most likely to be 630mA and easily obtained from any electronics supplier.

Hope this helps.

Yes but be careful you don't touch anything else if the set has been on recently.

There might be residual currents around capacitors for a while that could give you a big fright...

Well, i've just had the back off, the power cable goes to the front of the tv to the on/off switch. It's too hard to see if there is a fuse there as it's a bit tight fitted and I don't want to unscrew the panel as my big hands and stubby fingers might not get it back in...
I've had a fell around on the board but nothing feels like a fuse...

A working 34" set must be worth £150 or so in the local paper free ads, so it might be better taking it (I know it weighs a ton!) to a local repair shop - at least for an estimate...
