I really liked the first episode and loved the beast below however the Victory of the Daleks seemed really really rushed, almost like a 2 parter pushed into 45 minutes.
I like the new daleks and all that but just felt it was rushed way way too much, and ended very weird it just didnt feel right.

Loving matt smith and Karen Gillan though, although so far im not as into the show as i was in series 4 which imo was the best series so far from doctor who. I'm not really up for another dalek finale and if they have a new enemy or one we havent seen in a while they i will be very happy.

This is just the start i know but the past few years the first 3 episodes have been among my favorite, Tooth and Claw and Schhol Reunion are among the bets imo as are Fires of Pompei and Gridlock. Maybe it will pick up but i do have to admit the quality of the beginning isnt as good as we have seen.

I think Matt Smith could be a very good doctor but not with last night's script. There was no fear factor and all seemed a bit daft to me. First time ever the Daleks made me laugh (those colours were like smarties!!)instead of hide behind the sofa!!!

I'm finding it a tiny bit disappointing after the fantastic Eleventh Hour, which was 11/10 for me. Just brilliant. I thought The Beast Below was good (7/10) and just caught up with Victory of the Daleks and would give it a 6.5/10. I thought the story was good, but the Daleks had just had a nice new paint job, and they just flew off. All seemed a bit easy for me, but like someone has said perhaps its aim was to set up for a future episode. There were some great bits though, especially from Amy.

All in all, it's better than I expected it to be, but episodes 2 and 3 have paled in comparison to episode 1.

maybe its time for some people to bear in mind that RTD wasn't exactly tearing up tree stumps in his tenure .... at least give Ste Moffat a complete series before going in like a Roy Keane tackle on him

I'm finding that too. I enjoyed tonight's BBC-3 repeat a lot more than last night's first showing. I found this to be the case with TEH and TBB as well.

This worries me a little and I hope the series will include a few stories that you can "get" on first viewing, because casual viewers (upon whom the future of the show depends) only tend to watch once.

I voted 'poor' for The Beast Below and - after watching it 3 times - would change that to a 'average'.

I voted 'average' for the Dalek episode and would probably increase that to 'good' after a second viewing.

I think the problem for me is that my expectations are so high on first viewing that I'm usually quite deflated immediately after watching (which is when I tend to vote). But going in for a second viewing my expectations are not so high and I tend to enjoy the episodes far more.

I wonder if the problem is that people expected the stories to remain the same and the new Doctor to behave like the previous one. My point is that those saying that Matt is still similar to David are probably looking for the similarity, and if you look hard you find it. I think I agree with a lot of people on here that Steven Moffat had to reign it in again, if you try to top each final, then it becomes very difficult after a while (you can only destroy the whole of space and time once). To me these stories have more of an old Dr Who feel about them, I could have imagined Tom Baker in Saturday's episode. I loved RTD's time, I was sad when he left, but I think we need to give the new team some time to get used to it all.

BTW to clarify, I don't find the new series boring, but one thing I do agree, at the end of Saturday's episode, I personally missed Donna, who would have understood the suffering of the people in the war room (e.g. the girl who lost her boyfriend) a bit better. I don't mind the doctor being unemotional (him being a 900 or 1000 year old alien), but the companion needs a bit more empathy (however, I think that could be part of the story arc - something is clearly not right with Amy).

I don't find it boring, and I won't switch off, but I feel a lot more disconnected to this series and don't have the excitement for the next episode that I used to feel.

Whereas I used to be an avid fan I'm now becoming much more of a casual viewer.

You're probably right there. I mean I enjoyed it enough when i was watching VOTD for the first time I just thought this is nice enough, but what really grips me is the mystery of Amy not knowing about the Daleks and the continued theme of the cracks in the wall.
