I hate the voting public

I hate the voting public. I mean as a body - I don't necessarily hate them as individuals, nor do I hate you if you voted (as I did in the final of IDA).

They are gullible, lack subtlety and don't "get" the task at hand.

Please discuss

Well, I don't know.

I'm sure the right choice will be made in the end.

When some people are claiming to vote 100 times what chance do the rest of us have and what's the point?

Who did you vote for in IDA?

Sometimes people's preferences seem nonsensical, but hating them is a bit harsh. We all choose who we like for different reasons, and you can't expect everyone to agree with you. Personally I would have put Lauren and Emilie in the sing off, but lots of people like them, so why should I have the final say?

ALW's daughter likes Emilie, but lots of the voting public don't.

I'm convincing myself that it's too early in the competition to really need to worry too much about who will win it... I reckon since there's been different people in the bottom two every week that all the votes have been quite close, so I think in a couple of weeks once it starts to become clear who's progressing and who's not improving at all, and once personalities start coming out properly, the public will make the right choice. Hopefully. Maybe.

Yes, If they start featuring them more in their tasks. Which they will.

There are thousands of votes cast, so what does it matter how many times contestants familes vote. People also vote regionally, they do on every programme.

I voted for my fav a few times and I will next week as well because I want her to win so thats the point.

Do you think that ALW would save Danielle if she was in the sing of again next week. I really hope she's not this years Rachel.

I suppose it would depend who she's up against? If it was between her and say, someone like Stephanie who ALW seems to like and hasn't been in the bottom two yet, I'm not sure.

Well we shall have to see. unlikely to see Stephanie there, but that's what I would have said about Danielle and even Dani.

I think he would save her over anyone except perhaps Stephanie and Lauren.

Yup, only when we get to the final 6 will I start to get concerned if this absurd situation hasn't been sorted and there isn't more clarity or trend appearing in the voting.

On semi-final night, so last 4, it will be really concerning if Emilie is still there.

I actually do want to go and see this show. I wasn't so bothered with Oliver as I've seen it over and over on stage and on TV/film but Oz is something I am longing to see on stage. Lets just hope the GBP see sense! If the Dorothy is someone I'm not content with, I definitely won't be buying a ticket just for the sake of it.

I agree. We all have different preferences for different reasons, or there would be no point of the show, if our choices didn't differ. Plus there can only be one show winner, so the remaining Dorothy's will all be voted off eventually, it will just be the order in which they go. I expect many if not all of the eleven Dorothy wanabees, will get show offers before or after OTR finishes though.

hmmm. He looked upset by the two in the sing off. He would have been fine if Emilie was there.

The problem is is that when the vote is going to anyone on any grounds you can easily end up losing either the winner or their competition or the competition that should have driven on the winner. Bronte and Dani were probably far more credible top 6 performers than 3-4 of the people left in. You could easily lose 2 more of the top 6 in the next few weeks. You end up at best with the best of the ones who survived random voting.

In this case its worse because people who can sing the required material may not do as well with the OTR stuff they are given, some people seem to be being given dud songs and some people who can sing well are not suitable to the role and others can't act it. then we have the nonsense of dancing week where some people were not required to dance , ALW said not to bother and being ungainly might fit the role better anyway.

OP, here - thanks for this healthy discussion, folks :0)

Yes - "hate" is a bit harsh. I mean I hate the way "they" vote.

I'm not sure whom "who did you vote for last year?" is aimed at. Perhaps the writer wants me to state "Jessie - definitely not Jodie"; OK - "Jessie - definitely not Jodie", whose lack of presence is evident in the search for a dog (no cruel jokes, please).

For my money, both Dan... s are good for the role of Dororthy, which Steph and Jessica aren't.

The show has shot itself in the foot by having that "reparcharge" that Emilie won, as the GBVP will go right on voting for her a la John Sargeant (unfair comment, as Emilie has talent).

That's debatable.

The GBP certainly seems to be watching a different show from me. My top 3 (in order: Lauren, Danielle and Steph) have all been in the bottom 2. I thought the point was to find someone who could act, sing and dance - AND make a convincing Dorothy. But I must be mistaken, mustn't I?

I think yo must be mistaken, it seems to me like a popularity contest. And most of the people who vote won't even go and see it.
