I have rarely heard Maybe This Time sung so badly (except in Karaoke ). They were both poor vocally and lacking the right kind of emotion.

Are you from Preston

I thought Dani was really good, wrong kind of emotion but was emotional.

I agree, but it the wrong kind, and the product of her own feelings, rather than conveying that in the song.

I thought Dani kicked Danielle's ass all over the stage. At least she had emotion, and you can interpret Maybe This Time as a plea rather than the optomistic tone it has in Cabaret. Sarah Lark did it in IDA, and Dani did it tonight.

Lloyd Webber proves once again his favourite could fart then trip over and they would still be saved.

I thought they were both really good

Though not as good as the lovely Sarah Lark

Totally agree ... Danielle's version was odd, maybe she was nervous, but I thought it was a very cold performance from her ... Dani at least gave it warmth ... the wrong kind of warmth but there was some passion there ... but as you say it was a foregone conclusion from before they sang anyway!

I agree, as much as I LOVE Danielle, Dani was just amazing!

If anyone was ever in any doubt about whether the sing-off has any bearing on ALW's decision, there can be no doubt remaining now. As much as I prefer Danielle overall, Dani sang her heart out there and, if it truly was based on the sing-off, Dani should have stayed.

I thought it was just me.....

Danielle was given an object lesson in how to do a sing off by young Dani who wiped the floor with her....

Dani was really great, vocally and performance wise. I disagreed with the Lord's decision. Danielle has a lovely voice though, but didn't act it at all, could have been nerves.

You could see it in Danielles face half way through that she needs to step up her game but the Dani does even more.

I wonder if Dani knew the game was up when she found out she was up against Danielle ... it almost seemed like she gave it her all because she knew it was her last performance on the show, whereas Danielle was almost the opposite!

I actually thought the song was far to low for Danielle ... she seemed to struggle with some of the notes ...

I prefered Danielle to Dani in the sing off. Dani looked to be struggling when Danielle's performance was effortless.

I thought they were both ok... Danielle being better vocally (Dani sounded off key at times, I thought), and Dani putting more emotion into it. I wouldn't say either one of them were bad... though neither of them even came close to living up to brilliant interpretations of it like Kristin Chenoweth's, of course.

I've heard five of the Nancies to that song and they didn't come close to any of them.

Dani did remind me of Sam Barks though, and Sam's it quite easily the best version of anyone on these shows. Granted she was playing Sally Bowles at the time.

I thought they were both ok I suppose. Danielle lacked emotion in her voice most of the time. She sang it better than Dani though.

Dani was sure she was out, I saw her roll her eyes. She knew she was headed for that moon.

Danielle was more in tune but sang like a choir girl, devoid of emotion (I'm going off her a bit).

Dani gave it everything, investing all her emotions in the song, but at the expense of vocal control.

I agree for me Dani stole the song BUT I think ALW was considering her youth and her gaucheness in dance movement. He may say he goes on the song alone but he never does. He is casting for a musical lead and putting his money where his mouth is so quite rightly considers all options!

Then why have the sing off?

I can think of three maybe four decision in four series I think he's made because of the sing off.

Oh exactly. You nailed it.

I much preferred Dani, slight loss of vocal control included.

I agree. I think we all knew who he would pick. Amy was better than Steph in the sing-off as well (much as I love Steph).

I liked Dani's version. Apparently the original was optimistic? I liked it her way.

On pure singing, I thought Danielle was much better. On acting, I don't think either was that great. Dani was too upset and let her emotions get in the way of her singing, and I think Danielle was just stunned about being in the sing-off. Danielle did loosen up and sound much better in the last third of the song, though.

The point of the sing-offs is to let ALW decide if he has any doubts about who to save. I think sometimes he does go solely on the sing-off, but most of the time he knows who he wants to save. I don't think that's a bad thing, and I agree with him for saving Danielle. Dani didn't deserve to go either, but I think Danielle still has potential to win.

Neither were that good. Worst sing-off so far.

Dani was better because she showed some emotion, but her vocal was quite weak. Its clear Danielle has the better voice but that song requires a lot of feeling to pull it off and she basically showed NOTHING so the performance completely fell flat.

I love both girls but Dani was awful at the beginning. Danielle sung rings round her.
