All you need is love The Beatles man!

All the Doctors at some point have put there companions in danger.
Also loved Hartnell the grumpy old Doctor.

sorry I don't really understand what your saying?

As much as I loved TBB...I'm sorry to say it wasn't very original....RTD has been doing stories like it since the Long Game

In what way is it more like the classic series? You mean to say that its platonic? what you mean like the Tenth Doctor and Donna??? Seriously...selectiveness....you are the definition of it!!!”

Yes, maybe you are confused because I didn't explain it right. What I meant about The Doctor and Amy is that, like in the classic series, Amy has had an introductory story, she's gone off with The Doctor in the TARDIS, she knows nothing of The Doctor's previous affections for Rose or his relationship with Martha like Donna did. So far there's no sign of any romance emerging, she's just travelling as his companion, like the classic series, no family to speak off, no complications, aside those stemming from the overall arc of the series.

As for TBB, the word I chose was wrong. It should have been freshness. No harking back to the previous era or something that happened last year. In some ways it reminded me of the McCoy era in that it had hardly any continuity references at all, it was pretty much self contained.

So there you go. Not been selective, just stating an opinion.

So a bit like Rose in series 1 then? Who didn't have a clue about how many companions he had travelled with...

yes lets ignore the eyeing of the Doctor while he is getting changed, or the fact that she says to Bracewell "have you ever fancied someone you know you shouldn't?" and looking at the Doctor...and the upcoming kiss

What Just like Rose in series 1 and Donna?

I could be wrong but even the classic series companions didn't have any complications as such in terms of story arcs either....and anyway, even though Donna had a family...they hardly got in the way did they? And we know that with a wedding in the near future....Amy's "family" will play a part somewhere along the line.....

Oh right yeah....there was no talk of him being the last off his kind...or the fact that Queen Vic banished him or any talk of any naughty antics with Queen Bess...yep nothing harking back to the previous era....not least the plot itself.

Sorry to say....but your opinion is still very selective in order to prove your point....

Crazzyaz7 hasn't been disecting Doctor Who any more than you have. Your problem with her post is clearly that she's been dissecting your post too much for your comfort, and rather than try to refute what she said, you instead attacked her personally.

I'm not attacking anyone personally. I have said many times that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I wasn't referring to what was said, some valid points were raised which I hadn't considered, it was more the way it was presented! lol! It was just mind blowing reading it as a matter of fact! I was just pointing out that maybe we're arguing over something trivial and Crazzyaz7, you have my respect totally! I think we should agree to disagree as I see no point in arguing over something we're not gonna agree on. And that is the last I have to say on this particular thread.

RTD basically has used up all the shiny shiny stuff that was needed to make the single-episode stories work.

All that has gone now so this series (and probably the specials too) really needed to concentrate on story and character developement which needs at least two episodes per story, preferably more.

The WW2 story would have worked well over two episodes because the daleks could have kept up their sly act for 42minutes very easily while the audience gets to know the various new characters and the spitfires in space technology can be "planted" as a story element. All resolved in part2.

But the BBCs insane commercial ambitions are just getting in the way now.
