We have had no real new channels for some time now are the Freesat offices closed???

Or should there be a change in office staff that would work harder to get all the free channels that are about on other platforms??

The data channel was not kept up dated well with ITV 1 HD changing to a real epg number etc...

Sad Freesat you are not working well now.

Depends on your taste. I would consider CNBC a real channel. It's better than the expectations I had for it. Some like the Food Network, although it's not a "real" channel for me.

I've learnt that everything Freesat requires patience. If you have short time horizons you need to find another platform, e.g., Sky, but of course only if you're willing to pay the price.

Someone about two months ago claimed that Film 24 intended to join within 6 months. I had an email from them back in October saying they hoped to join by end of 2009. It's probably safe to assume that they will join - eventually.

In the meantime, while I would welcome "real" new channels of course, I personally find that there are already more programmes that I would like to watch than I have time to - even with a PVR. Before Freesat I only had the 5 channels plus BBC News 24 in analogue cable, so from that perspective I'm more than happy with Freesat as it is.

I can't see what Freesat themselves could do that they're probably not doing already; they need to grow the platform in terms of getting it into more homes, and that will make it more likely that channels will come on board.

They can't offer special deals, and they can't bump some channels off to make room for others. If they wined and dined channel heads to try and persuade them to sign up, then there'd be plenty of people moaning about money being spent on that.

You can't always get what you want. Life's like that.

(And for why it's not always possible on Freeview and Freesat, I wrote a simple explanation for Gone Digital - http://gonedigital.net/2010/04/15/wh...annels-i-want/ )
