Quite a lot here, but I'm a bit of a Fifties buff:-

Almost all Elvis songs recorded between 1954 and 1958, but especially "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", "Trying To Get to You" and "Blue Moon"

Most of Chuck Berry's 1950's output

Ditto for Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Everly Brothers, Eddie Cochran and Fats Domino

"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" and "My Prayer" by the Platters

"Shake Rattle and Roll" by Big Joe Turner

"Night Time is the Right Time" by Ray Charles

"You Send Me" by Sam Cooke

"Mack The Knife" by Bobby Darin

"Little Bitty Pretty One" by Thurston Harris and the Sharps

"I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingoes

"One Summer Night" by the Danleers

"Ruby Baby" by the Drifters

"Reet Petite" by Jackie Wilson

"Shop Around" by the Miracles

"Where and When" and "I Wonder Why" by Dion and the Belmonts

"Everytime We Say Goodbye" by Ella Fitzgerald

"Move It" by Cliff Richard

"Rock Island Line" by Lonnie Donegan

and load of others that have slipped my mind.

tbh im no fan of 50's music in general. i dont think i have an 'all time fav' from the 50's and im struggling to think of a track that i like enough to mention.

there are tracks though from 1960 i like...

"I Only Have Eyes For You" by the Flamingoes is my favourite.

I also like a lot of the early Elvis stuff and Doo-Wop (but not sure if a lot of those may be early 60s).

Understandable. Pop and rock as we know it didn't really start until the 1960's, so I would say that 1950's music is a bit alien to most people's musical tastebuds, and very much an acquired taste. It's worth acquiring though.

Little Richard - The Girl Can't Help It is a favourite of mine. I love that song. But I love 60's music more tbh.

George Formby was 1930's and 1940's rather than 1950's, I believe.

The Nina Simone single My Baby Just Cares for Me (which I think was a re-issue chart hit in the 1980's) certainly dates back to 1950's, but I think most of her well-known stuff is from the 1960's.

Again most of Etta James's best known songs are from the 1960's, but Roll With Me Henry (a particular favourite of mine, and featured in the film "Back To The Future") dates back to 1955.

I am ashamed to say that I prefer the 1987 cover of La Bamba by Los Lobos to the 1957 original by Richie Valens.

i wont knock the music, it was vibrant and of the time, it just doesnt do anything for me much personally. i reckon its dated very badly and seems very basic by standards that followed in the 60's. im sure that if i was a teenager in the mid 50's id have completely indulged in rock n roll.
