That may be so, but I find it very difficult to sympathise with him even when he does get a somewhat unfair crack of the whip. It comes with the territory. Someone who continually stirs up trouble and makes unnecessary unpleasant and unwarranted remarks about others in his profession is always going to attract their fair share of flack.
I never thought much of him before his particularly sorry business with Mark Saggers last year, but if that story which was reported by Sale, the Guardian and others is true (which I have no reason to disbelieve), then I have no time for him whatsoever.
I despise bullies who throw their weight around to the detriment of others and that's exactly what Green is by all accounts. Why anyone could enjoy listening to that shock jock of a commentator is beyond me. (I'll get off my soapbox now.

This would be the same Amy Lawrence who was dropped by talkSPORT after being less than successful as a co-host on the quickly-canned Three Day Weekend show with Dom McGuinness back in 2001? Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I think his initial spell with Five Live is as Col says, he had two or three seasons with them after his playing retirement in the early 2000s, before being dropped during which time he dabbled in films, music and reality TV.
He then rejoined Five Live (and also presented a regional Soccer Night show on ITV Central round here) in the 2007/08 season where his star rose quickly - he was their co-commentator on the Champions League Final between Manchester United and Chelsea in Moscow and was planned to be part of their Euro 2008 coverage as a summariser.
He then made the decision to join talkSPORT in the summer of 2008, soon after his former Five Live boss Moz Dee arrived there, and even missed out on covering Euro 2008 for the BBC to do so.
I think a big motive for his moving stations, money aside, was that talkSPORT could offer him more games to cover on a continuous basis.
These days he typically attends three or four games per week for talkSPORT (Saturdays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and some Mondays) and I've heard him say on-air a few times that he loves being able to cover so many football matches each week.
