I agree with many points you make, Pougers has a Mr Logic vibe about him, Eleanor is a lightweight aye. If you'd listened regularly to Chappers' Championship podcast (or whatever it is officially called) you'd rate him I guarantee, I don't have that Radio 1 bias against him, plus I don't mind genuine manure fans. Kelly is fine just as long as he isn't paired with my favourite Danny Baker - worse than a two hour block of vuvuzelas that would be!
What can Stubbsy bring to the party though, seriously?”
Well, I have a soft spot for Kiddie Harriers but they're not my team.
On Ray Stubbs, I think he can bring a lot to the party, although I do take the point that talkSPORT have got depth in the live match anchor area as it is.
For a start he's a name people know (and we all know how UTV love a big name signing), so conceivably can draw people to the station through familiarity, but is a proven professional broadcaster having presented live games on TV and radio and I also thought he did a decent job of presenting 606 sporadically before his departure from the BBC.
He's got a "voice of the common man" feel about him, he clearly gets on well with sports fans as his interaction with them on things such as the BBC's darts coverage in years gone by shows and he doesn't appear to be up himself.
Also, having been BBC TV's reporter in the England camp in years gone by, it's likely he still has connections to the FA which could help with securing interviews. Plus he's a respected broadcaster who's well known among sporting stars generally so it could be a good move to get him on board from that point of view.
I know people dismiss Stubbsy for being boring but I personally don't think you have to be particularly flashy to be a good sports anchor. I'd rather hear Ray do a solid, professional job quietly than hear another presenter try to make a name for themselves with wild opinions etc.

As of around midday, there's still no new press release or such like from talkSPORT about their coverage that I've seen. Therefore it's looking unlikely that they've signed a big name commentator to their coverage such as Alan Parry.
So I suspect their commentary line-up will be lead by Jim Proudfoot with him being joined by Ian Danter, Nigel Pearson and Graham Beecroft. Seeing as he's not fixed up elsewhere, could John Rawling get the call to join their team as well?
If they need more commentators to make up their team, then I would be in favour of them calling upon some of their reporters who've made their name as commentators elsewhere - guys like Geoff Peters, Dom McGuinness, Graham Courtney, Simon Humphreys and Mark Donaldson.
As for next season I don't think things will change that much for Jim Proudfoot. I could see him continuing to be talkSPORT's voice of the Champions League but not appearing at weekends, when he concentrates on his TV commitments with ESPN's European league coverage.
It wouldn't surprise me if Nigel Pearson and Stan Collymore moved from doing Saturday 3pm games to the 5.30pm fixtures later in the day, although maybe the Sunday fixtures will open up opportunities for a team like Ian Danter and Alvin Martin to do regular commentary matches (indeed I suspect they will be talkSPORT #2 commentary team at the World Cup now sparring a late signing).
