Indeed For a kids show its still very good and actually can go pretty dark sometimes. Helps that Sarah-Jane is brilliant of course.

Apart from the slitheen, it is pretty good.

It's like a slightly watered down version of its parent programme... diluted horror, because it has to be, but still scary enough for the market it's aimed at, solid stories, generally good acting, and all-round good stuff!

It's good fun, and Elizabeth Sladen still looks great!

Have they repeated the Gorgon yet? That one scared my mother and she's 70

By the way - if someone called cloudithing pops in to have a go at Clyde? Give a resounding hey nonny nonny and don't rise to the bait

SJA seems more like old DW than new DW does!

Some of the episodes were very scary: Eye of the Gorgon is a good example, and more recently the haunted house episode. Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? is a lovely, sad little thing.

My Skyplus crapped out so i missed the last couple of episodes of this series, so i will keep eyes peeled on BBC3. Thanks for the reminder!

I absolutely love it, and I like Clyde's character particularly (I think he will be very handsome when he will be older).

He is gorgeous. It's quite funny, I was sitting on the sofa with my OH yesterday, commenting how gorgeous he will be when he is in his twenties. How old were Maria and Luke at the time (they must be younger).

Oh my God. They really look a lot younger, don't they (or am I getting older).

Don't understand this Slitheen hate. Really well designed monsters (love their sideways blinking), and the humour suited SJA perfectly.

Suppose that's an element of the casting choice, that they look younger than their ages. It worked for Julia Sawalha in loads of things!

Very nice of you to not attribute it to my age (smilies don't work for me, this afternoon). You are of course right (casting choice), but Maria looked like a young 12 year old to me.

i loved how the slitheen said. "years being chased by the judoon". Before i first watched it. I hadn't put two and two together to think. There criminals juddon are police so they should battle.

I'm such an idiot

That has got to be one of the ultimate DS forum postings!

I quite liked the Slitheen, too. They look a bit rubbish in CGI form, but they're a fun idea. I love a fart joke though, so that won't hinder things for me.

The Slitheen are definitely second-string monsters, but are thoroughly watchable. i bet they scare kids, too.

A lot of people felt fart jokes were out of place in Doctor Who.

Those same people don't seem to have had a problem with two straight weeks of vomit jokes that weren't written by Russell T Davies.

Kids (of all ages) love jokes about bodily functions. Doctor Who is made for kids. Fart jokes are appropriate.

Glad others enjoy it, too

I like watching Luke learning about being human.

I really like SJA. I know it's meant for kids but it's very good and not that far removed from DW (and it's better than Torchwood imo).

I must be getting older, I would never have thought he was 23!

Me either, though maybe they work better in SJA.

I am preferring S J to the current Dr Who, and that surprised me.

I like the way that two-part episodes are being shown one straight after the other.

I am looking forward to this week's; I have not seen this one before.

Series 1 was awesome, had some great stories. The production costs were lower than for Doctor Who, and it very rarely showed, although the brighter green paint job for the Slitheen didn't do them much justice, and the actors chosen for the elder slitheens were certainly not the best, but some great stories including Eye of the Gorgon and Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane- when the Trickster threatens the Doctor to Sarah Jane, I got chills.

Series 2 continued to improve on the franchise and ironed out some of the creases from the first series. Maria's exit was a bit of wasted potential- I really suspected that there was something bigger going on when they were suddenly whisked off to the USA- her one-off return appearance could have been a bit bigger, especially after all of those questions that were raised after Chrissie got smart over the Sontaran- which also looked cheaper than the Doctor Who version. But overall, seriese 2 was better than the first. Day of the Clown was quite scary, and The Temptation of Sarah Jane was a great piece of TV too. Was a bit let down by the finale, which showed so much promise, but as a Dr Who Nube (only affiliated with the show Post-2005) I was most impressed with the Brigadier!

Series 3 was again an improvement on the previous series. The opening villain was very good, and the visual quality had improved dramatically- plus we got to see a Judoon in a police car! The Wedding story was the best of the bunch, not because of the Doctor showing up, but because the story was so mature. The Mad Woman in the Attic was also very good although I didn't like the concept of 'Ship' in the second part. The latter episodes were not as strong as the opening ones- Luke was missing entirely from The Eternity Trap (Tommy Knight had exams, but his absence was really noticeable), the Monal Lisa was a hoot but was missing something I cannot put my finger on, and The Gift was also full of wasted potential. That said, The Wedding was supposed to have been the finale for the series, but the story got switched with The Gift, otherwise David Tennant would have been cropping up in Sarah Jane after his appearance in The Waters of Mars, which wouldn't have made much sense. Due to that, I'll give Series 3 a break.

Cannot wait for Series 4 and 5. Should be a hoot! Matt Smith, Katy Manning and Laila Rouass!
