i had my belly button, nose and lip all done within about two months when i was 13. my nose went first 'cos i kept catching it and got annoyed, then my body started pushing my belly bar out when i was about 15. i should have taken it out as soon as i noticed, but i didn't, and got it caught on a wetsuit and it ripped out instead. so now i have a lovely massive purple scar just above my belly button which is currently stretched to 40 weeks pregnant worth of scar.. not nice!

Hi all,
Got my nose pierced a month ago (had it done the old-fashioned way when I was a teenager but it went septic, no wonder, so it was short-lived) They told me to keep the retainer stud in for four months, which would take me through to October. Is that just being over-cautious? I bought some lovely coloured studs to wear so I'm anxious to know whe I can start experimenting Also, sometimes the skin under the stud swells a little, like blistering. Most of the time the surrounding skin is a bit pink, too. Is any of this normal? And what is the best way to keep it clean, and how often? I've used hot salty water on occasiona; anything else? Fank yoo

mimicole get some Bio Oil. It has Vit E in it but other magical ingredients too. You do need to keep applying twice a day for months but a little goes a long way and it does work in time. It is AMAZING stuff, it filled in my kids' deep craters from chicken pox to barely noticeable tiny white marks. I recommended it to a couple of friends after their operations and they've had great results too. Read the studies on the site.

If the swelling has gone down, get some shorter jewellery and then try not to change the jewellery while its healing. Just 1/4 tsp of salt in hot water and dont twist the jewellery else the fistula takes forever to form, just bathe the crusties off. People say dont use antiseptic, but if ever ive had an infection Ive put a dab of antiseptic on once and then bathed the rest of the time in salt water. Patience is the key ![]() Quote:

I had my earlobes pierced at a jeweller's when I was 11 but about 6 months later they went gunky - I'm not sure if it was a metal allergy, because I pushed the backs in a bit too far or it was because of the really cheap 'gold' earrings my mum got me for school that went all black on the bit inside my ear. Had them redone a Claire's 11 years later, a couple of months ago now and they seem fine, I'm enjoying being able to buy and wear pretty earrings
. Hope they last this time! Wouldn't mind having the top of my right ear done but I promised my bf, who was really against me getting my lobes done again, that I wouldn't, so maybe if we ever split up. I've never come across a tattoo design I know I'd want for the rest of my life, that and I wouldn't know where I'd want it! |

I have my ears pierced (lobes) got them done when I was ... around 12/13. It was in Claire's and they have that seat at the front of the store and everyone crowds round and watches..
There was 2 women doing it, one at each side so they used the gun at the same time, otherwise I would have backed out of having the other ear done, the pain was horrendous and in that split second I wish I hadn't had it done. One of the women pressed the gun on my right ear and it didn't go through properly, so she had to press it again for it to go through, she probably didn't press hard enough the first time. That hurt ALOT. But it was all fine, didn't get infected or anything and I am glad I had it done. When I was about 14/15 I wanted another ear piercing, both sides so there would be 2 piercings on each ear lobe. I'm really glad I didn't now. I don't think I'll have any piercings in the future either. |

I recently got a second job and I've been told that I have to remove my nose piercing which I am absolutely gutted about; I love my nose piercing.
![]() How long can you remove jewellery for before the piercing closes? My shifts are 4 and a half hours long...I was hoping to be able to put the jewellery back in after work. Thanks in advance. |

I had my ears pierced when I was about 3 or 4. Can't remember why but I had them taken out when I was about 7.
Then when I was about 14 or 15, I had the top of my ear pierced because I saw it on Robbie Williams and loved it. Was really painful in the cold weather though! Next came my first tattoo which was done just above my ankle. Didn't hurt a bit - god bless emla cream ![]() Then I got both inner wrists tattooed - left one was ok, right one was hideously painful and bled a lot. Then I got my inner conch pierced - not too bad having it done but I don't think it healed properly as it was painful for about 6 months afterwards. Then my tragus piercing - not too painful and I absolutely love it. Then I got my finger tattoo - not painful to have done but it did swell up a bit the following day and was a bit tender. Then I got a tattoo on the side of my foot - I don't want to be too melodramatic but I thought I was going to die The pain was hideous and I had teeth marks all over my fingers! Was a bit tender for a few days but healed well and I love it. Last thing I had done was a microdermal piercing on the nape of my neck. Very painful and I bled a LOT (the skin on my neck was the toughest he had ever encountered apparently) but I love it. It's been in a couple of years now but if it does ever reject, I won't be getting it redone while the pain is still fresh in my mind! |

)What I don't get is that I think it's quite normal to see someone with a nose stud these days, to the point where people don't even notice it. Maybe I could understand if I was wearing a nose ring, I was asked to change it and I refused but I don't get what's "offensive" about a nose stud. I can easily hide my septum piercing (wearing a retainer, so they have no idea about it). We can also only wear one pair of ear studs. I'm waiting on a phone call from New Look. Hopefully I'll get the job and I can finish at Brantano. They kept us behind the other day for 45 minutes despite the fact that I had nothing to do with the till. I had to get a cab home because all of the buses had stopped running. |

![]() Have two ear piercings, and six tattoos. Had some trouble with the first ear piercing, as it didn't go in straight and bled a bit, but the rest were fine, including all the tattoos. |

I had my earlobes done when i was around 13, with a gun, didn't hurt, and was fine afterwards.
Then i got the second lot done when i was 15, same again. Then my third lot when i was 16, same again. I only have the first set open though, i took the seconds and thirds out for a while and now they have healed. Then i got my tongue pierced when i was 17, took it out three days later because i was so hungry! It then healed over. Then i got my top ear pierced, with a needle. Hurt a bit and bled alot. It hurt to sleep on for a while so i changed it from a ring to a stud, and it was much better. Then when it healed properly, i put a ring back in, and its fine now. Then i changed my mind and had my tongue pierced again when i was 18. Didn't hurt at all, did swell though, and just had to bear being hungry for a week. Still got that in, and i forget its there. I then got my hip/stomach tattooed, first one. Hurt like hell! but survived that was last yearThen 4 months ago, i got the top on my shoulders done, from my shoulder up to the side of my neck. They hurt a bit, not as much though. But all in all, i wouldn't have any more piercings but i would gladly have more ink

I'm disaster when it's comes to piercing and tattoos .I never learn though
.They don't work for me.Ears - Had a first set when I was about 10 but let them close up ,had the 'first' set done again but accidentally opened the original ones up ,so now have two sets very close together ,which is pointless! Top of the ear - Really fashionable at school ,so naturally got it done ,got horribly infected sank to the middle of my ear had to dig the thing out! Belly button -Had it done twice ,the second time a disaster! either it wasn't deep enough or my body rejected it because it was basically a bar through a flap of skin .I've had a purple scar every since ,and the hole has never healed up totally over 10 years later!!Tattoos - Two ill advised walking off the street at 17 numbers ,first one is o.k for a first tattoo no sees it ,the second is awful meant to be dragon but it looks like lego .Got infected and is all patchy from scarring .18th birthday is my most hated ,if I could get it scrapped off I would .It's so ugly and manly !! .Got a tattoo on my foot last year ,who knew feet were so bony pain was ridiculous!!! For some reason it's not crisp ,the writing is blurred ![]() No more never again! No matter how much I savlon or lather them in creams ,they always up infected or looking awful! |

Make sure you clean it at least twice a day. Don't touch the piercing unless you are cleaning it.Try not to get any make up near it. ETA - Make sure you get it pierced with a needle and NOT a gun! ![]() Hope that helps. |
