Too right! An american version of DW would be nothing short of an abomination.

Lets hope this means that progress will be made on more UK based Torchwood *crosses fingers, toes and anything that I can*

According to BBC Worldwide they're still in talks with other interested broadcasters.

Good. Then the show can't be mucked up, then.

PS BBC please scrap a few useless plane trips taking BBC news teams to unnecessary places, and spend the money on a new Torchwood series

I think a the leading Role with a fancy for Same sex just doesnt do it for Fox.

Im guessing they wanted to Turn Capt Jack into a str8 male unshaven and spends hours brewding in the Corner with a ciggie hanging out of his Gob.

If Fox had made Torchwood, they'd probably have called him "Jack Hussein Harkness".

Fox not making DW or TW does not make me want to sob.

To be fair, I don't think it was ever under consideration (in this millennium anyway), but the possibility had to be laid to rest.

Don't joke, there was a CSI France, which according to French friends of mine was hilariously bad.

Wasn't Joss Whedon planning at one point a Buffy spinoff about Giles set in Blighty ?

It was called Ripper and I'm sure they tried to get it off the ground on several occasions

Agree there. Mind you, I never really believed it'd ever appear on Fox. Even if it did, I didn't have much hope for its survival! With so many quality US and Canadian shows these days, I don't know why so many fans are dead against a non-UK version.

Maybe because Fox were responsible for the 1996 Doctor Who TV Movie? Which completely bombed in the States and didn't spawn a series, causing us to face another 9 years of waiting for a new series?

as an American I have to say...THANK GOODNESS!!!!

I was dreading what Fox would do to Torchwood...and as Hallamsteriscoo said, I would rather HBO then Fox, feel it would stand a chance then.

and VERY pleased about a US Doctor Who being ruled out...would not mind him dropping by...sure he has sometime in his travles (even if we've never seen it lol) but would definatly not want a US based show.
