Group Numbers
SnoopMK

I've read a few comments here and there about group numbers and which girls stand out the most. So, what do you think? First, list your favorite three group numbers, then list the three girls who you think stand out the most in the group numbers in general, and then list the three you thnk are the weakest in the group numbers.

Oh, just to make it simpler, let's restrict it to group numbers with the top 11, as opposed to the groups of 4 in the top 20.

Here goes:

Top Group Numbers On the Live Shows

1. "You Can't Stop the Beat"--I keep re-watching this, It's fun.

2. First "Mash-Up" (but it's really a medley)--"Anything You Can Do/Broken Heels"--Lots of energy. This is by far my favorite of the mashups.

3. "Get Happy"--Mostly because of Danielle's and Steph's performances.

Standouts in Group Numbers

1. Danielle--she's always in character and puts everything into it. She's totally in the zone!

2. Steph--She's got great showmanship.

3. Stephanie--I just always seem to notice her in the numbers.

I also think Bronte was really good in the group numbers. I miss her.

Bottom 3 in Group Numbers

1. Emilie--She just seems out of her depth in a lot of them.

2. Jenny--These are when her voice sounds its squeakiest, and she's not a great dancer.

3. Sophie--I like Sophie, but she always seems a little lost in the group numbers. Her dancing isn't that great, either, most of the time.

I'd go along with those, Snoop, except I'd have to add Lauren as a stand-out because I always find myself watching her.

I also really enjoyed the 'America' performance and if we ARE looking at the top 20 ones then it's got to be 'Never Forget Me' - by far my favourite of them all. It's a travesty that Camille didn't get through.

To be honest, I tend not to like the group numbers (particularly what they call mashups and which are, as you correctly point out, mere medleys). The camera zooms around (as cameras are wont to do) so I miss as much as I see. I try to spot what each contestant is doing, but of course can't catch everything. If I really wanted to analyse how they all do, I'd have to re-watch it, but I do have a life...

I did just re-watch America (okay, I admit it, I don't have a life) and, for me, Danielle, Stephanie and Steph stood out, but my favourite line was sung by Sophie ('everyone there will have moved here') and Lauren was also very good.

But I don't really know what I'm looking for in the group numbers. Isn't the point of a good group number that you look at the group and not individuals? A good chorus girl isn't necessarily going to make a good leading lady, despite Hollywood's best efforts to convince us that Ruby Keeler was a star. So Jessica's gawkiness (which I actually find quite appealing) just does not work in a group number, because she stands out for all the wrong reasons, but that doesn't necessarily mean she couldn't play Dorothy.

So, mostly, I just sit back and enjoy the group numbers (or wince, depending) and don't take them seriously as an indicator of the contestants' suitability to be cast as Dorothy.

To be honest, I don't really like most of the group numbers, but there are two I did like.

1. 'Get Happy' - Danielle and Steph made this for me.

2. 'America' - Danielle stood out because her accent was amusing. Steph and Sophie were particularly good in this.

Standouts in Group Numbers

1. Danielle- Something about her just stands out, but I don't know what.

2. Steph- I always draw to her, she has lovely vocals and doesn't try too hard, it just comes naturally to her.

3. Jessica - for all the wrong reasons

Bottom 3 in Group Numbers

1. Emilie- She just doesn't stand out at all, she just blends in.

2. Sophie - Tends to just blend in aswell

3. Stephanie - I think she tries too hard with the dancing and over does it she looks a bit out of place because of this.

Top Group numbers in the final 20

1. Group 5 - 'Take a bow' and 'If they could see me now' loved both performances.

2. Group 1 - 'Never forget you' and 'All that Jazz'. I thought 'never forget you' was great for all the right reasons and 'All that Jazz' for the wrong reasons

I've said it before and I'm sorry I'm going to say it again. Sophie blends into the group song because she is always shoved to the back and into the shadows. Its crazy, how can someone who cant be seen stand out? I vote that they put her in the front or in the second tear of girls this week and see if she can stand out then (which if her top 20 is anything to go by i think she will) and if she doesn't i will let it go

and for me...

First mash up - i just love it!
'Get happy' Danielle made this for me! She is really good in group songs!

Standouts in Group Numbers
Danielle - she just really is amazing in every sing one, it might be helped by the lines she gets but i doubt it.
Ahh and i agree with SnoopMK i really thought Bronte was good too

Bottom in Group Numbers
Emilie - just seems to panic when her line comes and gabble it out, especially noticeable in America, i had no clue what she was saying!

Sophie: I completely agree with you 'loveofskins' in the group performances I think Sophie does a fab job when delivering her own lines, I loved her one in 'America' but apart from that we never get to see her, she's shoved at the back. I know she isn't one of the stronger dancers but she should be given a chance.

Steph: I think she stands out most of the time, she has a fab voice and was the best all rounder for me in 'America'. Still don't know if she's a Dorothy but she's still one of my favourites.

Jessica: Always stands out for me in group performances, sometimes for the wrong reasons lol. Her faces and akward dancing make me laugh but I do find her endearing.

Stephanie: A great all rounder, sometimes I do think she tries too hard but is in my opinion the strongest dancer. Usually stands out in group performances.

Jenny: I like Jenny but I find her very nasally in her group performances, I don't think she is that bad a dancer though but I don't find myself looking for her in group performances.

Danielle: I think Danielle is the best actress with what we've seen so far but in her solo's I find her very dull. She is very good in the group performances and was excellent in 'Get Happy' but in 'America' and 'Buenos Aires' I found her quite shouty and it put me off. Is one of the strongest dancers aswell.

Emilie: I don't think she is as bad as some people make out and is quite a capable dancer but she doesn't seem to stand out. I too found it hard to understand her lines in 'America'.

Lauren: I think she is one of the best singers and is a good all rounder too. She sometimes stands out among the group performances but other times I don't tend to notice her.

The best

Like others have said, Danielle stands out for the right reasons. She dances very well, she acts brilliantly and she sings well. She has a quality that makes her very watchable. I've loved her in ALL group numbers but especially "America" and "Crazy In Love". Also "If My Friends Could See Me Now". Go Danielle!

Steph - I loved her in "America", she's a fab dancer and performer.

I cringe watching Jessica and Emilie at times. Wish Sophie got to be up front a bit more. Stephanie goes too OTT for me and seems desperate to be noticed.
