Last week in 11th Hour we got a 'you're Scottish, fry something' line and after seeing a clip from next weeks episode, we're getting a 'Scotland wanted their own ship' line from Amy with Britain taking to the skys.

Gotta love the Scots! lol I'm not Scotish by the way. I just hope we don't get many people thinking is yet another AGENDA!

I want more sexy Scottish ladies in DW to go with Karen. I want Kelly MacDonald and Ruth Millar and that gorgeous blonde in the "Visit Scotland" ads.

Add that to that Jeff might be a Jock (possibly in a jock later) and that one poster thought the village was in Scotland and I think it's pretty conclusive.

And Rory? Scottish name is ever I heard one!

much I loved and liked dt , I am so pleased that the assistant and the dr are not mockney or Landon , I was so bored of powell estate and the other places not martha's north London flat as she had some taste but does Landon rule the whole of the uk , I cheered when the dr landed up in a english village and it was used for a story , so pertwee !

I dont mind Scotland , I used to go there for a holiday in the 80s and loved it !

Also I liked that nurse boyfriend of amys so martha aint he pr Mickey rather but more quieter ! ax

Nah, just kidding... just got a bit exasperated with yet another round of "RTD's gay agenda" last night.

Oh, and if it turns out SM actually DOES have a Scottish agenda... I DON'T CARE! I'm just enjoying the new Doctor!

Thank you.

I don't think Dr Who should include any Scottish references. I'm as tolerant as the next person, but this is a family programme, and such topics are clearly not suitable for young family members. I wouldn't mind if he made the occassional comments that there are other places in the UK, but to have the main writer preaching about it in every episode is a bit much. I'm sure soaps would be a much better place to include references to Scotland (but only if it includes some Glaswegian person lying in a doorway drunk). This positive representation of Scots in a primetime family entertainment is not acceptable. By the way I'm not a "scotphobe", because I have lots of scottish friends (I mean my next door neighbour may be scottish). However, this does not invalidate my point.

PS: I'm living in Fife.

I'm shocked and astounded that you feel this way. Approx 10% of the UK's population live in Scotland, and whether or not you like it, they should be represented on tv as such.

Just because your neighbours make the best deep fried mars bars doesn't not give you the right to claim to know what it's like to be Scottish. I'm Scottish and Proud

Are you calling me a Scottphobe. Well that's alright then, you are Scottish and because of that I have to listen to all things Scottish on Dr Who. My neighbours do not fry their mars bars (I think they are frying their children - however, this does not mean that I have any prejudices against them, we must have toilet cleaners and street sweepers in the UK, preferably London). Now you see I think it's ok to talk about London in Dr Who. After all, the majority of UK citizen live in London, and anybody else is not worth talking about. Keep Dr Who free of Scottish things, it's not appropriate for young audiences.

Now sorry it's not as if he's promoting Scotland in any way or saying that Scotland is superior. It's just being presented as an alternative part of the UK.
I expect now we'll have some posters trying to blame RTD for starting this unecessary promotion of parts of the UK that are not mainstream English and there will be accusations of pandering to minorities.
After all he did write the line 'every planet has a north'. Enough people, just embrace the whole of society as Doctor Who always tries to do.

PS Wanted a tartan dalek so much

I'm convinced that RTD has started the whole thing. After all, he employed a Scottish actor to play the doctor. I'm sure we will get a Scottish Dalek as well (after all the Dalek's built a Scottish android.

Is Scottishness a choice or are people born that way?
