It's nice - for a change - to see a well-balanced post like this! I completely agree and I'm not prejudiced against Jocks in any way - I just don't think that SM should be using Doctor Who as a vehicle to promote his nationalistic "leanings".
Doctor Who - which I have loved for longer than anyone on this forum and am, indeed, an expert on - should be about monsters and spaceships
only. It survived perfectly well for however long it was on before without all this stomach-turning innuendo about kilts and haggis.
In the past half an hour, I have spoken to literally
hundreds of fellow fans and they all agreed with me - which is only right and proper, as my opinions are, quite literally in my mind, "the final word" on the subject - that Saturday tea-times are unsuitable for Scotch persons to be seen on the screen.
Last Saturday, I watched "Victory of the Daleks" with a small, intimate bunch of my very closest confidantes and forty to fifty of them rolled their eyes and muttered darkly under their breath whenever "Paisley" was mentioned. I believe that says it all.
It may only be "a line here and there", if one chooses to believe the apologists (we all know who they are, hoots mon, och aye the noo!

), but add them all up and we're talking about about five seconds of propaganda every forty-five minutes!
