I don't know but try as I may I'm drawn back to Scotland. I have to go there. I'd live there given a choice and now the doctor is allowing me to believe that these feelings for Scotland and all things Scottish are perfectly normal and acceptable in today's society,

It's been the agenda all along, ever since The Highlanders. No coincidence that Jamie was the longest-serving companion in terms of episodes (IIRC).

No it's a choice, and if Scottish people would try harder, they could overcome these feelings and live like other "normal" people in the UK (around London). It's not difficult to get that perfect London accent either.

That's my problem with Dr Who. All of a sudden, young kids might want to become Scottish. They don't even realise that it's not their choice anymore. Around here, all young ones have a Scottish accent, which has nothing to do with the fact that I'm living in Scotland, but everything with the fact that those kids are "turned" by Dr Who.

It's nice - for a change - to see a well-balanced post like this! I completely agree and I'm not prejudiced against Jocks in any way - I just don't think that SM should be using Doctor Who as a vehicle to promote his nationalistic "leanings".

Doctor Who - which I have loved for longer than anyone on this forum and am, indeed, an expert on - should be about monsters and spaceships only. It survived perfectly well for however long it was on before without all this stomach-turning innuendo about kilts and haggis.

In the past half an hour, I have spoken to literally hundreds of fellow fans and they all agreed with me - which is only right and proper, as my opinions are, quite literally in my mind, "the final word" on the subject - that Saturday tea-times are unsuitable for Scotch persons to be seen on the screen.

Last Saturday, I watched "Victory of the Daleks" with a small, intimate bunch of my very closest confidantes and forty to fifty of them rolled their eyes and muttered darkly under their breath whenever "Paisley" was mentioned. I believe that says it all.

It may only be "a line here and there", if one chooses to believe the apologists (we all know who they are, hoots mon, och aye the noo! ), but add them all up and we're talking about about five seconds of propaganda every forty-five minutes!

I certainly don't think the Welsh are a problem, technically speaking they belong to London anyway.

Why thank you, and I completely agree with you. Even up here in Scotland, everybody I talked to (literally thousands of people) were disgusted by the way SM has ruined Dr Who for all of us. I think the quicker he leaves the better. I want my Saturdays to be Scottish free.

*you see even I get swept away by the Scottishness.

As someone mentioned on here before, The Moff is a Time Lord. (hence his nickname with 'The'). He was Innes Lloyd's imaginary friend.

You see David Tennant is the sort of Scot we want on TV. See how he pretended to be a good old cockney geezer throughout Doctor Who? Proof that the Scots really want to be Londoners. They just need to try really hard, like Mr. Tennant did and they could overcome their Scottishness and become productive members of society.

Unfortunately, Steven Moffat seems intent on undoing all the hard work of RTD and is actively promoting this vile behaviour on our TV screens. Heck, I even heard David Tennant speaking with a Scottish accent the other day. He's managed to infect him, even though he's left the show. Poor David; he was so nearly a role model for our children.

Of course, there's nothing wrong with the Scots. They're all fine people and all my friends are either Scottish or bi-national (though I do wish these guys would just pick a country and stick to it. Who are they kidding?), so I'm not in any way a hater.

They just need to stop promoting the idea that they're equal to us Londoners, that's all. We're clearly the master race.

Thanks for the info, he clearly is very sneaky and clever. Do you think he has a Time Lord agenda as well (ups wrong thread).

I think any sensible person does and I'm sure every true fan would agree with me.

I went to Scotland once for 39 years and I found it foul and unnatural.

As for Westlife's comments about
Spoiler
Janie McCribbins
returning... Well, I think that would be the biggest national disaster since Russell T Dervish rejected my script about ghosts. I don't want some redhead's bagpipes waggled in front of my face every Saturday night. They tried that with Catharine Teat and hundreds upon thousnads of people like me turned off and slipped back into our comas.

It's sad to see so much pro-Scotch sentiment on this bulletin board but it's nice that the overwhelming majority agree with me.

I didn't even bother to respond to that poster with you know who returning. If offends my Dr Who expertise that they would have someone like that coming back. I've done a quick psychic scan of the forum by the way, and you are absolutely right, thousands on here agree with you (I don't mind Catherine Tate too much, but I didn't like it when Rose started to talk Scottish and Tooth and Claw).

Hellbore, good post. I also thought that it was only proper that David shouldn't have used his Scottish accent. However, I heard that he used his real accent on one of the Big Finish productions. I'm very disappointed, if I had kids, I would not let them listen to this infamous Scottish promoting tapes.

I believe that medication is now available. With a strict regime of pills and regular injections many Scottish people can now live perfectly normal English lives.

Almost certainly. I spent all those years conditioning my kids to avoid Rab C Nesbitts and the "suits" at the BBC go ahead and stick one on children's TV. It's enough to make you stick a lit rag through someone's letter box.

The voice of sanity returns! I do enjoy a spot of light debate with someone who knows almost as much about Dcotcro Who as I do myself. It's almost like you and I are the only right-minded, right-thinking people on this forum! How queer.

Tooth and Claw... Don't remind me.

Worst.

Story.

Ever.

RTD may as well have had Sean Connolly and Billy Connery appear - it was so blatantly Scotch I had to get Nurse to double my medication.

In my mind, I'm the only real expert, and thousands have confirmed that (my psychic abilities are unrivalled). Are you by any chance on the same medication as myself (as suggested by Zeg). It's made my life a hell of a lot easier, although it destroyed my enjoyment of Dr Who (or was that SM). If Sean Connolly and Billy Connery or Maggie Smith will turn up in any of the next episodes I will personally complain to Offcom and the BBC. These things need to be stopped.

How many missing episodes do you have in your possession? I have Patrick Troughton episodes that Patrick Troughton never saw.

Honestly I despair of the Scotophobic comments voiced by some in this thread. Just accept that there are those of us who are drawn to the Scottish side of life. It is perfectly natural to love mountains and lochs, bagpipes and haggis (lovely in a whiskey sauce).
And now you people even complain of the inclusion of even a slightly Scottish actor for God's sake. The omnisexual God that is Jack Harkness had to adopt an American accent not his native Glaswegian because of the prejudice of some people.
Scottish people/lovers exist - get over it!!

I have Patrick Troughton episodes that Patrick Troughton wasn't even in, with a proper cockney assistant (Michael Caine).

Now that is such an outrageous lie, you people stop at nothing, don't you. He clearly is not Scottish.

I hate it when people call me a Scotophobe, when all I want is a scottsfree Saturday evening. I stated before that's ok for them to turn up in the occasional soap (drunk in a corner). I just hate the fact that it's shoved down my throat in Dr Who
